Nigel Buckley (2023 C, Los Angeles, CA) took a good round to kick off the older guys. He's got plenty of bat speed and looseness from the right side and swings it hard with the ability to lift and create good carry on impact in the air.

Jarett Sabol (2025 C, Orange, CA) took one of the better rounds of the day, regardless of age, but especially so as a freshman. He's really physical and it shows in how well it comes off the barrel as he impacted the ball loudly to pull more often than not.

Adam Geller (2022 SS, La Canada, CA) is another physical hitter and he showed it in his round staying under control to find the barrel often while also being explosive in how well he drove the ball to the pull gap throughout.

Jack Zerkel (2024 OF, Tustin, CA) is an athletic player as a whole, especially so in the box as it's excellent bat speed and feel for the barrel that stand out and he peppered the middle of the field with lines drive during BP.

Carter Speights (2023 OF, Irvine, CA) is a really intriguing upside athlete with strong impact and the kind of hand speed to handle well in game while flashing some strength the other way.

Josiah Palomino (2024 C, Riverside, CA) took a really under control round not trying to do too much in producing liners to the middle and showing the kind of consistency to produce with the stick.

Ryan Oh (2025 OF, Stevenson Ranch, CA) has a really clean swing for just a freshman and it's easy to project on the body control, bat speed, impact strength and overall handle of the barrel.

Jake Hultz (2024 SS, Manhattan Beach, CA) has good strength to the profile already and he smoked tons of liners to the pull side during his round with the kind of control and balance to see it translating to game action.

Elliot Oster (2024 OF, Seattle, WA) is a long upside type hitter with a clean path that allows him to get the barrel out consistently and the whip/bat speed gives him some impact off the barrel already that projects to a bunch more.

Ethan Flynn (2025 3B, Santa Cruz, CA) is a strong young hitter with good hands and he was able to adjust well while still getting to his strength.

Ny'Zaiah Thompson (2023 OF, Mountain House, CA) is another really good athlete who showed the quickness in the hands, looseness through impact and the ability to stay compact while also creating some strength.

Jarren Sanderson (2023 3B, Torrance, CA) capped off the day with a pretty loud round showing a slightly longer swing but significant strength behind it as he sent multiple balls a long way to the pull gap and has huge power upside long-term.

Nigel Buckley (2023 C, Los Angeles, CA) stole the show with a with a solo blast to deep left field. Buckley strung together loud barrels all afternoon, finishing 2-for-5 while displaying his physical tools at the plate. Linear path with strong hands that shoot to the pull side. Physicality and strength translates to an enticing offensive profile. Good upside in the bat with a strong arm behind the dish. A highly touted 2023 uncommitted gem to keep an eye on.

Marcello Anelli (2025, OF, Newport Beach, CA) had a solid 2-for-5 day with a pair of good barrels to all fields. Good extension, keeps those hands in and stays steady through contact. Solid approach, picks his spots effectively. Present tools at the plate. Good size at first base. Big display on both sides. Uncommitted for the 2025 class.

Noah Stockman (2023 3B, Huntington Beach, CA) drove in a pair of runs on a solid swing back up the middle. Finished 1-for-4 with two RBI and was a solid run producer at the plate. Strong hands and present size translates to some pop to the pull side. Stays short and simple and utilizes his hands well, good barrel control. Stockman opened eyes with his prowess at the plate today.

Makai Moody (2023 RHP, Malibu, CA) tossed three shutout frames with five strikeouts in a dominant relief outing. Ran the fastball up to 83 mph with subtle life up in the zone. Flashed feel for a downer curveball in the mid-60s with some depth for whiffs. Mixed tempos and works downhill from a high three-quarter delivery. Solid arm that continues to progress on the hill. Remains uncommitted for the 2023 class.

Jack Zerkel (2024 OF, Tustin, CA) was a solid performer at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a loud barrel down the left field line. Good bat speed on a linear path, line drive approach to all fields. Has added some strength to the frame and it shows with more in store. Good actions in outfield drills this morning along with a strong performance at the plate. Remains uncommitted for the 2024 class.

Purple vs Royal

5/21/2022

Nate Sammartano, ’26, Calif. (Team Royal)- impressive outing from the right-handed pitcher with five strikeouts in three scoreless innings on one hit. He ran the fastball up to 85 mph from an over-the-top slot and hard-downer curveball in the low-70s. He finished with zero walks and a 60% strike rate on 40 pitches during his outing.

Luke Ludwig, ’26, Calif. (Team Purple)- right-handed pitcher matched Sammartano pitch-for-pitch with three scoreless innings on one hit with five strikeouts to keep the game scoreless through three innings. He commanded the zone at a 62% strike rate and needed only 32 pitches to turn the lineup over. Mainly using his fastball command up to 71 mph and a pair of breaking balls in the 64-69 mph range, Ludwig was efficient and effective against Team Royal.

Esamuel Jaramillo, ’26, Calif. (Team Purple)- smoked a line-drive to right field on a 78-mph fastball and the only hit for Team Purple through the first three innings. Jaramillo also chipped in with one scoreless inning on the bump with a pair of strikeouts from the right-handed pitcher.

Takashi Rutherford, ’26, Calif. (Team Purple)- the right-handed pitcher recorded three strikeouts in an inning of work with no hits on 29 pitches. Scattered the zone a bit with the fastball up to 79 mph but showed a solid changeup with good arm side fade and a tight curveball in the mid-60s. Lots of things to like moving forward from the 6-foot-2, 171-pound right-hander.

Purple vs Red

5/21/2022

13-Purple vs. 14-Red

Dylan Keliiholokai, ’27, Calif. (Team Red)- ran the fastball up to 77 mph in a two-inning scoreless start. The right-handed pitcher struck out 3 hitters while allowing only 1 hit on 23 pitches. He commanded the fastball and a curveball in the mid-60s at a 69% strike rate.

Jaxon Olmstead, ’27, Calif. (Team Red)- followed up in relief with three scoreless innings and four strikeouts from the right-handed pitcher. Commanded the zone at 68% strike rate with a fastball up to 73 mph and a breaking ball 56-61 mph. Solid outing to complete three innings with two hits given up on just 47 pitches.

Brock Johnson, ’26, Calif. (Team Purple)- athleticism stands out from the primary shortstop as he made numerous plays on defense all over the field. Went into the hole at shortstop and made a strong throw to record an out as well as two plays on groundballs while at first base. 1-for-1 at the dish with feel for the barrel and quick first step out of the box.

Royal vs. White

5/21/2022

Jarren Sanderson, ‘23 (Team White)- with a single into left field to record the first hit of the game. Pull side impact with extension out front from the big 6-foot-6, 220-pound third baseman.

Cooper Babb, ’24 (Team White)- singles to right field with a good piece of hitting with two-strikes to stay on the fastball down and away. Solid at bat from the primary catcher after fouling off the slider away and then lining the fastball in front of the right fielder. Controls the barrel through the zone with a line drive into left field on a slider for his second hit of the game.

Cody Collins, ’23, (Team Royal)- Great start from the right-handed pitcher with four scoreless innings on the bump with a 60% strike rate. Ran the fastball up to 81 mph while sitting in the upper-70s and showed a curveball with depth from his high arm-slot release getting down the slope. He also featured a lateral breaking slider as a third offering with slightly lower arm slot for weak contact.

Felipe De Alba, ’23 (Team Royal)- lines a single into right field off a slider from a tough right-handed pitcher. The right-handed hitting outfielder has taken good swings with a middle-field approach and line-drive swing path through the zone. Displayed his first step quickness after the single with stolen bases of second and third base before scoring on a groundout to shortstop. Finished the game 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a run scored.

Adrian Hernandez, ’24 (Team White)- the 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher was impressive in his three-inning relief outing. He punched out six batters on only 38 pitches with a fastball up to 84 mph that he commanded to both sides of the plate. He featured a tight slider in the mid-70s with good shape and fading changeup with depth up to 76 mph. Solid outing from the 2024 right-hander with a projectable frame and feel for a three-pitch mix moving forward.

Purple vs. Red

5/21/2022

Elias Oster (2023, Seattle, Wash.) was effective in his start, going two strong innings with four strikeouts. Oster impressed with a potent two-pitch mix on display. Ran the fastball up to 86 mph and sat 81-82 mph with late life up in the zone. Paired it with an effective low-70s slider with subtle 8-4 bite. Solid momentum down the hill, works his front side well in the delivery. Lanky, athletic frame with more in the tank. Uncommitted name to watch closely.

T.J. Shaw Jr. (2024, Henderson, Nev.) went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double that split the left-center field gap. Looks to inflict damage with strong hands geared to the pull side, good amounts of intent in the path. Has some uphill lift in the swing that can really show as he physically develops. Moved well on the base paths and opened eyes with his prowess at the plate.

Carter Speights (2023, Irvine, Calif.) opened eyes in relief, running his fastball up to 89 mph with arm-side run that forced plenty of whiffs. Flashed a low-70s slider with downward break and action to it. Also flashed a subtle changeup and took some off it against righties. Quick arm stroke that projects well going forward, more in the frame. Went 1-for-3 with a single back up the middle. Uncommitted name to keep an eye on going forward.

Patrick Dufer (2025, Oak Hills, Calif.) produced on both sides. He lined a hard single through the left side for one of the best pieces of contact of the game. Hands work well, get extended and stay through contact. He later hopped on the bump in relief and flashed a solid fastball/curveball combination. Uncommitted for the 2025 class.

Benjamin Vargas (2023, Anaheim, Calif.) had a pair of impressive knocks and went 2-for-3 on the day. Showcased a simple right-handed swing that took pitchers where it's given. Easy hands work through contact with some strength at impact. Good speed and quickness, hustles out of the box with bursts of acceleration. Uncommitted name for the 2023 class.

Alec Burger (2023, Las Vegas, Nev.) is an intriguing product on both sides after his outing today. Made solid contact at the plate and opened eyes with his feel for spin on the bump. Fastball was up to 82 mph, spun a slurvy mid-60s breaking ball and firm changeup. Mixed tempos and attacked the zone. Impressive performance on both sides. Remains uncommitted for the 2023 class.
