Team Dinger hold off late push for 8-6 win

5/25/2014

Tucson Baseball Club came up with a huge bottom of the 7th, scoring 4 runs in the inning. Unfortunately, that was just short of what they needed, as Team Dinger had built up an early lead and held on for a 8-6 victory.

A big reason why Team Dinger was able to hold off the Tucson Baseball Club was its pitching, which featured a couple of flamethrowers. Nick Kevien, who ended up being the pitcher of record, cranked it up to 83 MPH with the fastball while mixing in the occasional off-speed pitch. When Joey Faudsker (Pinnacle HS, Phoenix, AZ, 2016) came in, he really turned the heat up. He registered 88 MPH multiple times on the radar gun and included a few off-speed pitches that sat in the mid-70s.

Faudsker also contributed at the plate with a bases-clearing triple in the top of the 5th to push the lead to 8-2. Hunter Townsend (Pinnacle HS, Phoenix, AZ, 2015) pitched in as well with a 2-3 performance with a double, a run scored, and a stolen base.
