10-red vs 12-red highlights

6/21/2020

Hunter Elliott sat 88-90 with some ability to play a fading changeup at 81 and a darting slider at 79 off each other.  He is polished and repeats.  There’s also some power and barrel skills in his left handed swing.

Andrew Woods is athletic and strong with a quick shoulder.  His fastball sat in the low-90s and peaked at 93.  He threw a slider that was up to 81, and a solid offering when he got to full extension. The righthander has confidence in his low-80s changeup that he favored against lefthanded hitters.

Braden Montgomery has already displayed a nice bag of tools here in Hoover.  He connected on a low-90s fastball today and hit a double into the right centerfield gap and later singled to right, as he collected two hits on the day.  He is a switch hitter, the damage on both swings was from the left side.

Jose Valadez-Acuna is a workhorse lefthander that peaked at 91.  He has an upbeat tempo and some deception.  The Texan will develop nicely as he harnesses his stuff.

Thatcher Hurd was impressive with his low effort delivery that peaked at 93.  He held velocity well and has significant upside.  His slider is a true go-to pitch in the upper-70s and has plus potential as he tightens and designs it moving forward.

Thaddues Ector hammered a double to right centerfield as he turned on a low-90s fastball.  The ball makes a different sound when Ector squares it up.

Camden Hayslip looks the part in the lefthanded batters box.  He is tall with lots of room to fill out.  He fires off easy barrel speed and hit a sharp two strike single into right field.

Colton Sundloff was up to 92 with a tough low side arm slot.  He got some arm side run on the pitch and it was tough to pick up when he located it down.  He flashed a changeup and a sweeping breaking ball as well.

Hunter Teplanszky had a nice day at the plate collecting two hits.  He has a smooth lefthanded stroke and easy feel for his barrel.  There is upside in the body too.

Mason Molina lived in the upper-80s with good pitchability.  He pounded a 3-pitch mix around the zone with a curveball and changeup that were typically located well.

Victor Rodriguez found another barrel on a hard single to leftfield.  It riffled past the third baseman with authority.

Gary Thomas has some effort in his delivery, but there is not denying the stuff.  He was in the 91-94 range with a side arm release that gave lots of life to the pitch.  His slider was up to 83, but he can manipulate the speed based on the hitter and count.  This was a very uncomfortable at bat for hitters.

9-Purple vs 11-Royal highlights

6/21/2020

Karson Ligon got some angle on his fastball that sat 90-93/4 and had an aggressive approach in the zone, firing a lot of strikes.  There is a little hump on the curveball that got a couple swing and misses in the 2ndinning.

Anthony Ursitti has a loose and whippy arm with a nice projectable frame.  He peaked at 92 with a little arm side run and mixed an upper-70s curveball that has improved greatly. He also flashed some potential with a low-80s changeup.

Daylen Lile has one of the better hit tools in the class and collected two hard singles to the pull side.  He has a confident approach and seemed to go deep in counts consistently.

Luke Leto found two barrels during the game on Sunday, one of them for a single.  He continues to impress with his lefthanded bat.

Ian Moller had a big first game on Saturday hammering a double to the pull side.  Sunday, he went the other way for a double.  The power to all fields is noticeable and he is not bothered by velocity.

Boston Smith is a defined lefthanded hitter with a short stroke and a quick bat.  He drilled a line drive for a hit during his first at bat on Saturday, then promptly stole a base.  He has carrying traits behind the plate too.

Jackson Wentworth had an easy two scoreless innings on Sunday.  He sat an effortless 89-91 and spun a tight breaking ball that collected some swing and miss.

Gage Ziehl sat in the low-90s with his fastball that he worked to both sides a bit.  The four-pitch mix was impressive.  He showed confidence throwing a low-80s changeup to the arm side and a tight slider in the low-80s to the glove side.  He flashed a curveball in the 2nd inning.

Vincent Trapani has a workhorse power-arm look with a sturdy frame, clean arm, and a fastball that touched 95.  There was some tight spin on his curveball and he sequenced it well with some tunneling ability.

Jace Jones oozes projection and sat right around 90 during his two innings.  He peaked at 93 and showed an above average change that projects for more.  He added an improved slider that peaked at 80 and it gives him a very interesting three pitch mix.

Bobby Marsh is a physical lefthanded bat that drove a double over the right fielders head.  He has a good approach at the plate and comfort in the box.

Rene Lastres found a barrel to the right side but came up on the unlucky end of a diving play.  He also showed majestic arm strength as he threw a would-be base stealer out at second.  There tools are loud.

Sean Hard topped at 93 in his first inning of work and stayed generally in the upper-80s and around the zone.  He demonstrated some ability to land both a curveball and changeup as well.

Radek Birkholz has a compact delivery and a quick arm that produced a low-90s (93) fastballs.  The pitch jumped on hitters and played up even more because of his sharp slider in the low-80s.  The four pitch mix also included a curveball and changeup that have potential.

Renzo Gonzalez is a nice two-way prospect that has hitterish qualities in his swing and approach.  He threw a super quick inning as he pounded the zone with a fastball that touched 90 and feel for both his slider and curveball.

11-Royal vs 12-White Highlights

6/20/2020

Christian Little just does everything effortlessly.  He sat 90-94/5 with good extension and plane and showed some control to the glove side.  He used a curveball in the mid-70s and a slider in the upper-70s to keep hitters off balance.  The pitches have similar traits.  He also flashed a changeup at 85 and might be his best future off speed pitch.

Ian Moller showed what type of power he possesses, at least in his first at bat, hitting a ground-rule double to left field.  He can handle velocity behind the plate and has big arm strength.

Luke Leto kept his hands in and smothered a pitch down the right field line for a hit.  The lefthanded hitter has good bat speed and a long resume.

Daylen Lile has one of the best hit tools in the class.  He led off the game for the royal team, sitting on a two strike breaking ball, and driving the pitch over the left fielders head for a triple.

Devin Obee has serious power in his filled out frame, he turned on a fastball and hit a hard line drive single to the pull side in his first at bat.

Max Soliz is a physical righthanded hitter with lift in his swing.  He found a loud barrel to the pull side for a hit in his first at bat.  He has excellent defensive skills behind the plate as well.

Blake Burke is a strong framed lefthanded hitter with extreme confidence with a bat in his hands.  He hammered a double down the right field line to open his weekend.

Justin Still has some deception as he hides the ball well that helps his upper-80s fastball play up.  He topped at 91 early and moved the fastball around forcing action.  He had two quick innings.

Jason Hawkins hammered a line drive up the middle, staying on the pitch well and the ball came off the bat hot.  He quickly stole second base with a quick first step.

Jacob Kmatz is a workhorse on the mound, pounding the zone with two pitches.  His fastball was up to 92 with short running life.  He mixed an upper-70s curveball with 11/5 shape and upside.

Logan Schulfer has a very quick arm and life to his fastball that touched 93.  He flashed a changeup that has some late fade.  There is good upside and his curveball will develop with added reps.

Michael Morales has significant upside and sat around 90, peaking at 93.  His curveball sat in the upper-70s and has sharp break when he gets out front with it.

Cale Lansville had a noisy outing in Hoover.  He ran his fastball up to 94 with a lot of jump out of the hand.  The played off the above average heater with a plus curveball in the low-80s with a very high spin rate.  This was an extremely impressive outing.

Travis Garnett lots of deception in the delivery and the ball seems to be released out of nowhere.  He peaked at 92 and flashed a potential plus changeup in the low-80s.  The Slider had some depth and was up to 81 with a high spin rate, as well.

Anthony Silvas was impressive during his two scoreless innings.  He peaked at 92 and was a pretty steady 90.  The curveball played well off the fastball and sat in the upper-70s.  There were a lot of quality strikes.

Carter Daniels has life to his body and a quick shoulder.  He threw fastballs down and to the outer half with authority and peaked at 95.  The 85-mph changeup had matching releases, he also threw a short slider in the low-80s.  There is significant projection as he matures.

Oren Abbott turned on a low-90s fastball and drove it deep into the right centerfield gap for a stand-up triple.  There is also very good defensive ability at first base.  He also hit 89 on the mound from the left side.

Hector G. Nieves is a smooth player that was impressive during his game at bats.  He lofted a ball to the track in his first at bat and followed that by driving an outer half pitch the other way for a single in his second at bat.

9-Purple and 10-Red highlights

6/20/2020

Chase Burns was extremely impressive on Saturday.  The righthander sat 95-99 mph during his outing and flashed two potential plus offerings with a hard slider and a changeup in the upper-80s, with late action.  He also flipped a curveball in the upper-70s that gave him another solid offering.  His last pitch he was still 97.

Keegan Allen sat 90-93 and did a nice job throwing strikes.  The Georgia Tech commit got a few swing and misses on a mid-70s breaking ball that had sweeping action.

Reece Holbrook is just a baseball player.  He struck a hard single through the 4-hole in his first at bat and followed that with another single later in the game. He plays fast and has top of the order tools.

Tommy White took the loudest batting practice at the event on Friday.  Saturday, he turned on a low-90s fastball and shot a ball hard past the third baseman for a double.  The hand adjustment was impressive, his power profile with his bat to ball ability is unique.

Michael Robertson has feel for the game to go along with his big tools.  He saw the short stop break for the bag and shot a hard grounder through the left side.  He runs well and can be disruptive on the bases.  He finished with two singles on Saturday.

Alex Ulloa always seems to hit.  He took a mid-90s fastball and hit it into right centerfield for a hit.  The compact stroke plays well against any type of velocity.

Maddox Bruns had a loud performance in Hoover.  He sat 93-96/7 with his fastball that had tough plane.  He threw two different breaking balls with very similar downer shape.  One he calls a cutter, was in the low-to-mid-80s, with serious depth and tight spin.  The other was a mid-70s curveball with slightly bigger break.  The whole arsenal had swing and miss potential.

Austin Grause peaked at 90 with real pitchability.  He moved his fastball around and used his sharp upper-70s curveball off the fastball well.  He had two quick innings.

Eric Hammond made a huge splash in Hoover.  He has lots of projection in his 6-foot-4 frame and his arm has quick whip to it.  The righthander sat 92-94/5 with his fastball with good feel to locate it to the arm side.  He could change the shape of his curveball and the pitched showed depth and above average potential in the upper-70s.

James Peyton Smith is a true power armed righthander that controlled his repertoire well during his two innings. He sat 93-96 with heavy life.  He kept his arm speed on all the offerings, though did drop slots at times.  There is actually upside left as he continues to fill out.

Kade Grundy was a firm 90-93 during his outings and threw to the bottom of the zone with the pitch.  He is aggressive in the zone and throws with intent.  The righthander has a sharp breaking curveball that is already flashing plus, around 80 mph.  He also threw a changeup in the low-80s.

Anthony Migliaccio has a powerful lefthanded swing and bigtime confidence in the box.  He got some extension on a ball and drove a line drive to the pull side on Saturday.

Luke Ellis is a pitchability lefty with some arm side run on his fastball that peaked at 90.  He sequenced his three-pitch arsenal well and can throw each pitch to both sides of the plate.

Mason Albright held his 91-94 velocity during both innings.  His functional strength is absurd as he hesitated, went quick through his turn, and sat at balance.  He mixed all sorts of disruptive timing without losing velocity or command.  His 78-80 slider is already above average and he commands it well to the glove side.  He turns the changeup over to get fade at 83 mph.

Connor Simon had one of the louder barrels during the game as he created some space and hammered a double that would bang off the left field wall.  He is both polish and displaying future upside.

6-Maroon vs. 8-Orange

6/20/2020

Max Debiec (2021 RHP, Seattle, WA) was electric in his first inning of work, running his fastball up to 97 mph while working in the mid-90s. His two seam fastball offered hard sinking life while the slider proved to be a real swing and miss offering, giving him a variety of pitches to attack hitters with.

Drew Christo (2021 RHP, Elkhorn, NE) does an excellent job of hiding the ball through the back side, allowing his low-90s fastball to play up even more than his top of 94 mph. He worked a firm changeup around the zone and was able to induce some weak contact off the barrel.

Cooper Kinney (2021 2B, Chattanooga, TN) continued to find the barrel after a solid round of batting practice, barreling a triple to the left-center field gap on an outer half pitch showing strength in his hands and lift to his path.

Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz (2021 RHP, Trujillo Alto, PR) is a young and lean righthander who was able to generate some serious whip to his arm action, running his fastball up to 92 mph. There’s plenty of projection and he filled the zone well while landing his curveball for strikes.

Micah Ottenbreit (2021 RHP, Trenton, MI) showed plenty of things to like on the mound with a quick arm that produced a top fastball of 94 mph, showing life through the zone. He found the feel for his secondaries in the second, turning over some quality changeups with late diving life and spun a breaker well for strikes.

Luke Heefner (2021 SS, Cedar Hill, TX) continued to impress during the event, picking up a base knock in his first at-bat before barreling up another fastball for a hard fly out to deep right-center field. He barreled another ball in his final at-bat for a line drive single into right field.

Daniel Dewey (2021 RHP, Murfreesboro, TN) took the mound for the Orange team later in the game and showed some impressive arm strength, topping out at 95 mph with a quick right arm. He also mixed in a mid-70s curveball from a similar slot for strikes.

Glenn Green (2021 3B, Tyrone, GA) is an uncommitted righthander out of Georgia who showcased some arm strength, filling up the zone during his two innings of work. He maintained his velocity well and peaked at 92 mph and showed some feel for a curveball and changeup.

Nikolas (Niko) Mazza (2021 RHP, Madison, MS) was impressive during his time on the mound, opening up 91-94 mph with his fastball while filling up the strike zone. He tunneled his slider very well, a pitch in the upper-70s that offered late tilting life away from righthanded hitters.

Diego Ortiz (2021 OF, Ocoee, FL) turned on a pitch late in the game for a standup double, turning around a pitch into left field with some life off of the barrel.

Tyson Neighbors (2021 RHP, Rockwall, TX) showed the ability to really spin a breaking ball, a sharp slider working up to 81 mph while manipulating its shape. A Kansas State commit, he also ran his fastball up to 92 mph.

5-Green vs. 7-Navy Highlights

6/20/2020

Brandon Neely (2021 RHP, Seville, FL) was up to 93 mph with his fastball on the morning, showing a quick arm while working to both sides of the plate. He showed a real four pitch mix and utilized his late running two-seamer and sharp slider to keep hitters off balance.

Michael Braswell (2021 SS, Mableton, GA) put together a nice at-bat to open the game before getting his arms extended on an outer half fastball for what looked like a single before showcasing his speed to stretch it to a double.

Ethan Wood (2021 RHP, Lebanon, KY) showed off his pitchability landing pitches all around the zone while varying arm angles at release. He was up to 94 mph with his fastball and lived in the low-90s, creating angle to his glove side while showing a slider consistently for strikes.

Treyson Hughes (2021 OF, Warner Robins, GA) will be an interesting follow as he continues to add physical strength though he put a nice swing on the ball to inside out a heater, lining the pitch into left field for a single.

Jaxson Davis (2021 OF, Winchester, KY) continued to have a nice showing and took an outer half fastball which he drove to the opposite field gap, showing strength at impact for a standup double.

Ryan Higgins (2021 RHP, New Canaan, CT) showed plenty of things to like on the mound, running his fastball up to 92 mph with nice plane and a feel for filling the zone. His slider was the go-to secondary pitch with sharp life which he paired well with a changeup.

Alden Segui (2021 RHP, Tampa, FL) showcased his arm strength, running his fastball up to 96 mph early in the outing and worked 93-95 in the first inning. He also mixed in a slider as his go-to off speed

Corey Robinson (2021 OF, Deland, FL) continued to have a nice showcase and proved his swing translates into game action, barreling up a hard double to his pull side that quickly caught everybody’s attention. Later in the game he sliced a triple inside the right field line, again showing some carry off and big time speed on the bases.

Jaylen Jones (2021 LHP, Thomasville, GA) makes for an uncomfortable at-bat, working from an extended three-quarters slot while running his fastball into the low-90s with life.

Marcus Franco (2021 1B, Miramar, FL) picked up another hard, barreled double this time to center field as he cleared the center fielder’s head for loud contact once again this event.

An Alabama commit, righthander Hagan Banks (2021 RHP, Plainville, GA) worked on top of his fastball well and showed the ability to locate to his glove side while topping out at 92 mph. He flashed a firm changeup as well as a slider in the upper-70s.

Jake Fox (2021 SS, Plant City, FL) found a couple of barrels on the day, including a line drive single into right field while also putting solid defensive skills on display in the infield.

Batting Practice Highlights Teams 9-12

6/19/2020

Renzo Gonzalez (2021 OF, Tampa, FL)took a very accurate round.  He seemed to barrel every swing and lifted balls far to the pull gap.

Reece Holbrook (2021 OF, Mount Pleasant, SC)showed a quick and compact swing and he hit line drives to the middle of the field and pull side. He has a top of the order profile and his eye hand coordination is always on display.

Rene Lastres (2021 C, Hialeah Gardens, FL) has big power in his righthanded bat.  He is extremely strong and lofted balls to the pull side the entire round.

Brennon McNair (2021 SS, Magee, MS) is one of the better athletes in the class.  He has a short stroke and a ton of projection left in his frame.

Michael Robertson (2021 OF, Venice, FL) has middle of the order potential with the tools to stay in centerfield.  The ball came off hard and the barrel flew through the zone.

Gavin Conticello (2021 3B, Coconut Creek, FL) is more physical and it made a noticeable difference with the jump of his bat.  He still has the same loose levers and feel for the barrel.

Tommy White (2021 3B, St. Pete Beach, FL) had the loudest batting practice of the event.  He found the barrel on nearly every swing and hit a few balls well over the left field wall.

Boston Smith (2021 C, Vandalia, OH) continued to make waves in his second straight event.  The lefthanded power was on display and still has physical projection left in his frame.

Thaddeus Ector (2021 OF, Tyrone, GA) is an elite switch hitter.  He has a line drive stroke from the right side and loft potential from the left.

Alex Ulloa (2021 SS, Cutler Bay, FL)is a strong kid and has lots of hand strength.  He hit hard line drives and even cleared the wall with a swing or two.

Camden Hayslip (2021 OF, Lebanon, TN) has a body that projects and the BP was loud.  He put some charges into balls that banged off the right field frequently.

Braden Montgomery (2021 OF, Madison, MS) another switch hitter that has huge potential.  The swing projects big from both sides and has some of the better overall tools in the class.

Edwin Arroyo (2021 SS, Arecibo, PR) has a strong swing from both sides.  He looked to pull from both sides and displayed big lift off the barrel.

Daylen Lile (2021 OF, Louisville, KY) has fluid hips and a smooth stroke.  The ball jumps to the pull side and has massive potential to hit for both average and power.

Ian Moller (2021 C, Dubuque, IA) has one of the better power profiles in the class.  He has excellent bat speed and already showing ability to create space out front.

Victor Rodriguez (2021 OF, Winter Springs, FL) has huge raw power.  He had heavy hands and the barrel flies through contact.  As he adds repetitions the consistency will become better, but the raw power is real.

7-Navy vs. 8-Orange

6/19/2020

Miles Langhorne (2021 RHP, Greenwich, CT) came down from Connecticut and put his arm strength on display, running the fastball up to 93 mph early in his outing. He shows a feel for spinning the ball, landing a copule of nice curveballs for strikes in the upper-70s.

The offense got rolling for the Orange team in the second inning as Luke Heefner (2021 SS, Cedar Hill, TX) and Jack Holman (2021 C, Wrightwood, CA), two lefthanded bats, both pulled hard line drive into right field quickly for hard contact.

Ben Kudrna (2021 RHP, Overland Park, KS) was impressive during his time on the mound, showing one of the heavier fastballs we’ve seen yet, running his fastball up to 93 mph while working in the low-90s comfortably. His changeup was a solid offering with late diving life in the low-80s with a replicated release.

Justin Szestowicki (2021 SS, Mount Royal, NJ) put a charge into a fastball in his first at-bat, showing strength in his hands as he drove it to the opposite field gap for a standup triple, clearing the bases.

Drew Blake (2021 LHP, Stillwater, OK) showed some intriguing stuff on the mound for the Orange team, working in the 89-92 mph range with his fastball while getting swings and misses with it. On top of the fastball Blake showed a quality breaking ball with sharp 12-6 shape from a similar release point.

He might be listed as a pitcher but Max Debiec (2021 RHP, Seattle, WA) continued to show well with the stick, lining a pitch back up the middle for one of the hardest barrels on the day.

Ryan Ginther (2021 LHP, Hendersonville, TN) was electric during his time on the mound, running his fastball up to 94 mph with a fast arm and an up-tempo pace to how he worked. The fastball jumped on hitters but he also spun a quality slider in the upper-70s with tight spin.

Eldridge Armstrong (2021 3B, Simi Valley, CA) swung the bat well in batting practice yesterday, showing jump off the barrel to all fields and it’s an element of his game that he showed again today with a loud stand up double into the left field corner.

Daniel Brooks (2021 RHP, Mount Pleasant, SC) did an excellent job of controlling his 6-foot-8 frame, consistently working on top of his fastball to both sides of the plate while living in the low-90s. He worked mostly off the heater but the College of Charleston commit also showed a feel for his secondaries including a mid 70s changeup with fade.

Logan McGuire (2021 RHP, Acworth, GA) showed an arsenal worth following as the summer unfolds as the Georgia Tech commit worked in the 90-94 mph range. The slider showed nice sharpness through the zone and he landed a right on right changeup for a swinging strike out in the low-80s.

Jacob Cozart (2021 C, High Point, NC) and Joe Mack (2021 C, Williamsville, NY) are two physical lefthanded hitting catchers who barreled up balls to their pull side and both will be followed closely moving forward for their abilities with the stick and behind the plate.

5-Green vs. 6-Maroon Highlights

6/19/2020

Corey Robinson (2021 OF, Deland, FL) and Jake Fox (2021 SS, Plant City, FL) got the offense going early for the Green team, both getting on via opposite field singles, finding the barrel before showcasing their speed on the bases.

Andrew Painter (2021 RHP, Pompano Beach, FL) was electric during his two innings of work, siting in the 93-95 mph range, bumping 96 mph in the first. Along with showing a fast arm, Painter commanded a potential plus changeup while showing both a curveball and slider for strikes.

Devin Futrell (2021 LHP, Pembroke Pines, FL) continued to show high levels of pitchability with a smooth and clean arm action, consistently mixing within the zone. His fastball worked in the upper-80s with plane to it, mixing in solid changeup and a mid-70s curveball with shape through the zone.

Gabriel Gutierrez (2021 OF, Miami, FL) turned around an inner half fastball in his first at-bat of the game for a loud and well struck triple to the pull side gap, showing big juice off the barrel.

Tyler Dietz (2021 RHP, Trinity, FL) projects nicely moving forward though the Florida righthander already shows some intriguing stuff. He was up to 92 mph with heavy life and showed a nice changeup and breaking ball, landing both within the zone.

Marcus Franco (2021 1B, Miramar, FL) showed big time hand strength on an outer half breaking, driving the pitch well to the opposite field gap with a stand up double showing nice jump off the barrel.

Colson Montgomery (2021 SS, Holland, IN) is a physical lefthanded hitter who put the hit tool on display with a hard line drive single into left field with extension out front and feel for the barrel.

Drew Gray (2021 OF, Swansea, IL) put his two-way potential on display during the first day of the showcase, first pulling a double to his pull side for a double. On the mound he showed a loose arm stroke, running his fastball up to 92 mph with a sharp slider up to 83 mph.

Kevin Bazzell (2021 C, Forney, TX) enjoyed a 2-for-2 day at the plate connecting for a couple of singles while working the middle of the field. He also showed nice arm strength from behind the plate.

Group 2 Batting Practice Highlights (Teams 5-8)

6/18/2020

Justin Javier Colon Jaime (2021 SS, Clermont, FL) took an impressive round of batting practice after showing some of the top defensive actions in the infield. He consistently found the barrel, generating nice lift through the zone while showing strength off the barrel with a simple launch and more power to come.

Gio Cueto (2021 C, Miami, FL) did a nice job of staying short and direct to the ball, showing quickness in his hands with nice jump off the barrel to his pull side, repeating well swing to swing.

Dorian Gonzalez (2021 SS, Miami, FL) put a very simple swing on display, consistently finding the barrel from the left side during his round. He worked the middle and pull side parts of the field, showing fluidity to his path and steady line drive contact coming off.

Corey Robinson (2021 OF, Deland, FL) showed quickness to his hands from the right side, staying short to the ball while keeping his hands inside. Robinson creates nice bat speed through the zone showing jump off the barrel and projects for more with added physical strength.

Jake Fox (2021 SS, Plant City, FL) whipped the barrel through the zone from the left side thanks to the quickness in his hands despite the moving parts to his mechanics. The future Florida Gator showed lift to his path and he was able to generate easy bat speed through the zone.

Marcus Franco (2021 1B, Miramar, FL) is a physical 6-foot-4, 230-pound first baseman who knows how to utilize his strength nicely into his righthanded swing. With a simple approach the uncommitted Franco was able to create some of the better raw power, hitting a long shot over the 375’ marker showing big time jump.

Aidan Meola (2021 3B, Palm Beach Gardens, FL) is another physical righthanded hitter who showed quick hands and nice extension out front, incorporating his strength well to impact balls to the pull side with natural lift and life off the barrel.

Casey Cook (2021 SS, Chantilly, VA) did a nice job of repeating his lefthanded stroke pitch to pitch, showing quickness in his hands and a natural feel for the barrel as he consistently pulled the ball on a line with some authority.

Cameron Cauley (2021 SS, Mont Belvieu, TX) will be an intriguing player to follow over the next couple of days given his opening day performance. With a short leg lift trigger, Cauley repeated his swing well while creating whip to the barrel with quick hands and present carry off the barrel to his pull side.

Michael Braswell (2021 SS, Mableton, GA) is a long and projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound shortstop who showed present tools and future projection. There’s plenty of hand quickness to his righthanded swing showing nice present bat speed and life off the barrel when he squared it up.

Blake Chapman (2021 OF, Simsbury, CT) made the trip down from Connecticut and put his tools on display during his round of batting practice. He worked to the middle of the field well, showing quickness to his hands and offers elements that project well as he continues to add strength.

Slate Alford (2021 3B, Madison, AL) is a strongly built Auburn commit and like others mentioned above, he knows how to use that strength to impact the ball in the box. With a short and compact stroke Alford found a lot of barrels, back spinning them well to the middle and pull side parts of the field with jump off the barrel.

Treyson Hughes (2021 OF, Warner Robins, GA) is a lean and projectable West Virginia commit who shows things with his lefthanded swing to like moving forward. He utilizes a natural handle for the barrel and quickness to his hands, creating some lift at the point of contact.

Ryan Oniel Cepero Roman (2021 SS, Arecibo, PR) showcased a loose and easy, low effort swing from the right side and projects extremely well moving forward. Cepero shows a handle for the barrel, getting it through the zone well with a smooth operation and tools to project upon.

Luke Heefner (2021 SS, Cedar Hill, TX) has some moving parts to his load but also the hand-eye coordination to consistently get the barrel to the ball. He creates torque with his lower half and whips the barrel through the zone with nice barrel speed and strength at the point of contact.

Cameron Magee (2021 SS, Anaheim, CA) showed flashes during his time in the lefthanded batters box, showing looseness to his hands with a longer path through the zone. He worked line drives around the field and projects nicely with added strength moving forward.

Max McGwire (2021 1B, Irvine, CA) isn’t close to being filled out physically though that didn’t stop him from creating some big loft off the barrel. The Oklahoma commit was able to drive the ball with a lower effort stroke, driving the ball well to the middle and pull side parts of the field with a balanced stroke.

Max Debiec (2021 RHP, Seattle, WA) might be listed as a primary righthanded pitcher but the 6-foot-7 Washington commit impressed with the bat as well. Despite his size he stays shorter through the zone, creating some separation while generating some of the loudest jump off the barrel, connecting for a long home run to his pull side.

Cooper Kinney (2021 2B, Chattanooga, TN) has long shown a nice hit tool from the left side and he put it on display once again during his round of batting practice while generating nice pop as well. He worked well to his arm side showing looseness to his hands and wrists to whip the barrel through the zone and consistently barrel the ball up.

2-Cardinal vs. 3-Gray Highlights

6/18/2020

Aaron Calhoun (2021 RHP, Pearland, TX) opened up the game with an impressive first inning of work, running his fastball up to 94 mph with a quick right arm. His slider proved to be a difference maker, getting some uncomfortable swings on the pitch with late lateral life.

Philip Abner (2021 LHP, Charlotte, NC) is a physically built lefthander who filled up the strike zone over his two innings of work, topping out at 93 mph with angle through the zone. His slider was a nice secondary pitch and he mixed in a changeup as part of a three-pitch mix, all of which were thrown for strikes.

Will Koger (2021 RHP, Bardstown, KY) kept things moving for the Cardinal club, running his fastball up to 93 mph with short running life while showing a nice present feel for his changeup. He did a nice job of filling the strike zone early on, missing bats and inducing weak contact coming off.

Sean Smith (2021 1B, Pascagoula, MS) continued to swing it well as the uncommitted righthanded bat found yet another barrel, lining an outer half 90 mph fastball to the right-center field gap for line drive single.

Anthony Susac (2021 RHP, Sacramento, CA) took the hill and continued to gain velocity throughout his two innings of work, peaking as high as 93 mph with heavy life down in the zone. Despite being a power arm Susac showed feel for both a slider and changeup, mixing both well within the zone.

Braylon Bishop (2021 OF, Texarkana, AR) did a nice job of getting his arms extended on an outer half changeup and lined the pitch for a single over the shortstop’s head. He knows how to utilizes his strength as well, swiping a handful of bases on the day.

Maxwell Muncy (2021 IF, Camarillo, CA) took an elevated fastball and promptly lined the pitch back up the middle for a hard line drive single that jump off the bat.

David Shaw (2021 LHP, Houston, TX) is a long and projectable lefthander who made for uncomfortable at-bats, running his fastball up to 88 mph but it plays up with the moving parts of his delivery and slight crossfire. Along with the fastball Shaw threw both a slider and changeup for strikes, all of which he kept low in the zone.

Despite being listed as a primary righthanded pitcher, Cole Mathis (2021 RHP, Cataula, GA) made his presence felt with the stick as well as he jumped on a hanging curveball for a long home run to left field for the first long ball of the 2020 National Showcase.

Josh Randall (2021 C, San Juan Capistrano, CA) is a primary catcher but impressed during his inning on the mound, showing off quality arm strength with a fastball that worked in the 91-93 mph. His snapped off a couple of quality breaking balls with late biting life in the low-80s.

1-Black vs. 3-Gold Highlights

6/18/2020

Grant Taylor (2021 RHP, Florence, AL) opened things up for the Gold team and all six of his outs came via strike out, running his fastball up to 92 mph. He maintained his higher slot well on his breaking ball, landing his curveball often helping to keep hitters off balance.

Righthander Chase Petty (2021 RHP, Somers Point, NJ) was electric on the mound, running his fastball up to 97 mph early in the outing while making for uncomfortable at-bats. The changeup was an advanced secondary pitch for Petty, replicating his release nicely on the mid-80s pitch with late diving life down in the zone.

Christopher Katz (2021 C, Raleigh, NC) spun around a fastball on the second pitch of his at-bat, finding the barrel for a hard line drive single past the glove of the outstretched third baseman. He also continued to throw it well behind the plate, delivery a strike down to second base to nail a would be base runner.

Dillon Haines (2021 LHP, St. Augustine, FL) did a nice job of mixing and matching within the strike zone, working in the upper-80s with his fastball which played with deception and missed bats. He shows a nice feel for both a slider and changeup, maintaining well on his release with nice life to both sides.

Aries Samek (2021 SS, Teaneck, NJ)continued to pick up base knocks, this time a single to his pull side after working to the opposite field in day one for a couple of barrels too.

Oklahoma commit Brock Daniels (2021 SS, St Louis, MO) showed of his wheels as he connected for an easy triple, turning on an inner half fastball for loud, barreled contact to the right center field gap.

There’s a lot to like with the lefthanded bat of Kendall Diggs (2021 3B, Olathe, KS) and he managed to drive in a couple of runs with a hard line drive single to the left of the second base bag, jumping off the barrel.

Travis Smith (2021 RHP, Walton, KY) is a long limbed righthander committed to Kentucky who did a nice job of filling the strike zone, running his fastball up to 91 mph with late running life. He worked to both sides of the plate and mixed in both a slider and changeup for strikes.

Tyler Fullman (2021 RHP, Homewood, IL) made quick work of his two innings on the mound, filling the strike zone with a full three pitch mix. He topped out at 90 mph with the fastball, generating nice plane to it while showing comfort with both a slider and changeup.

Jackson Jobe (2021 SS, Oklahoma City, OK) impressed yesterday as a positional player with a long home run in batting practice before opening eyes on the mound. He touched 96 mph early in the outing and spun one of the more impressive sliders of the event while turning over a quality changeup as well.

3-Gold vs. 4-Grey Highlights

6/17/2020

Brock Selvidge (2021 LHP, Chandler, AZ): Selvidge showed off good physicality with a quick, clean arm stroke that produced fastballs up to 94 mph, sitting in the 90-94 mph range with the makings of a late, sharp-breaking slider in the low-80's.

Josh Hartle (2021 LHP, King, NC): Hartle does it extremely easily on the mound, with innate command of his entire arsenal, including a fastball that sat 88-91 mph, a bat-missing slurve, and a very advanced changeup. The pitchability and feel are at the top of the class.

Gage Jump (2021 LHP, Aliso, CA): Jump's fastball quality stands out, as he's able to miss bat after bat at the top of the zone sitting 90-93 mph, as well as leveraging it down in the zone when he wants. He flashed a breaker with some slurvy tilt, but he was 95+% fastballs with dominance.

Carter Holton (2021 LHP, Guyton, GA): Holton has always pitched well, and did so in this event as well. He worked up to 93 mph with angle and good life, and showed the ability to spin a solid breaker as well as a very advanced changeup that features excellent arm speed and fade.

Benny Montgomery (2021 OF, Lewisberry, PA): With some of the more remarkable tools in the class, Montgomery is one to watch every time he strides to the plate. He ran a 4.18 down to first base (plus) in one AB, and flew out to right field on a ball that he just missed.

Carter Jensen (2021 C, Kansas City, MO): Jensen's catch and throw skills stand out, as he's got some explosion in his lower half that allows for him to shift and back-pick with ease and velocity, and his throws to 2nd base are always on a line with carry and zip.

Malakhi Knight (2021 OF, Marysville, WA): Knight is loaded with tools and twitch and he showed his speed and outfield ability with a sliding catch into right field. He's got plenty of bat speed and thunder in his hands.

Brayden Jones (2021 RHP, Madison, MS): Jones was really efficient in his time on the mound, absolutely pounding the strike zone at 89-93 mph and landing a breaking ball for strikes. He's got clear athleticism and some projection there as well.

1-Black vs. 2-Cardinal Highlights

6/17/2020

Luke Hayden (2021 RHP, Bloomington, IN): Hayden has excellent strength to his build as well as tremendous arm talent. He ran his fastball up to 95 mph with high spin rates as well as showing good feel for spinning a slider that missed a handful of bats in his two frames.

Pierce Coppola (2021 LHP, Verona, NJ): Coppola is the picture of projection and does it easy on the mound, running his fastball up to 93 mph with a very easy arm stroke, and showing the ability to throw a slurvy breaker for strikes and for chase.

Aries Samek (2021 SS, Teaneck, NJ): Samek is toolsed way up as a player and jumped all over a fastball in his first at-bat, lining a double up the right-center field gap. He's got excellent physicality, raw tools, and overall upside. He also added a hard single the opposite way.

Brady Tygart (2021 RHP, Hernando, MS): Tygart has a really fast arm with an uncomfortable slot, and he pounded the bottom of the zone at 90-93 mph along with good feel for a sharp, late-breaking slider in the upper-70's

Casey Saucke II (2021 SS, Rochester, NY): Saucke stood out in batting practice and continued his hot-hitting in this game, launching a triple up the left-center field gap. There's a lot of interesting tools to the profile with tremendous projection. He's also intriguing on the mound, where he ran his fastball up to 92 mph with ease and showed an interesting changep.

Shane Panzini (2021 RHP, Spring Lake, NJ): Panzini is a very physical righthander with serious stuff. His fastball reached 95 mph several times and sat in 92-95 mph range, also showing advanced feel for a firm, fading changeup and a projectable breaking ball.

Jac Caglianone (2021 1B, Tampa, FL): A talented two-way player, Caglianone stood out on the mound in this one, slinging 88-92 mph fastballs with excellent angle and landing a solid slurvy breaking ball for strikes. He projects extremely well.

Joshua Baez (2021 OF, Boston, MA): Baez has great size with projection and arm talent as primarily an outfielder, though he did sit 92-94 mph with feel for a breaking ball in his time on the mound as a secondary arm.

Christopher Bernal (2021 C, McAllen, TX): Bernal took one of the louder rounds of the day, driving the ball consistently with leverage and bat speed, really driving the ball well.

Bryan Loriga (2021 3B, Hialeah, FL): Loriga has quick hands with a lot of strength, forming quality bat speed that works best pull-side with hard shots on a rising line.

Benny Montgomery (2021 OF, Lewisberry, PA): Montgomery has tremendous tools and projection, including his righthanded bat speed that produces missile shots pull side and back up the middle. His upside is truly substantial.

Ty Hodge (2021 SS, College Station, TX): Hodge did a very nice job of consistently getting the barrel out on time and impacting the ball out front, driving it on a line.

Alex Mooney (2021 SS, Rochester Hills, MI): Mooney took a very professional round, showing the ability to work from gap to gap with impact bat speed as well as turn and burn on a couple balls deep pull-side.

Charlie Saum (2021 C, Thousand Oaks, CA): Saum showed a very clean, very easy middle approach with legitimate bat speed and leverage, driving the ball and projecting well.

Cody Schrier (2021 SS, San Clemente, CA): Schrier really got the head out consistently and drove the ball pull-side on a line, giving him that power projection, but he can also throttle back and line the ball oppo.

Josh Randall (2021 C, San Juan Capistrano, CA): Randall really is able to drive the ball into the air with excellent strength and leverage, and was impressive in his BP round here.

Sean Smith (2021 1B, Pascagoula, MS): Smith has a lot of legitimate strength and it shows in his swings, leveraging the ball into the air with power and carry.
