Gray vs Purple

2/23/2020

Dan Merkel (2021 RHP, Millstone, NJ) A strong good, with an athletic build swings with intent.  Stands even and upright, hands cock barrel straight up into load.  Had a really good swing after battling for a few pitches for a ld 2b to rcf.  Was also 87 mph off the bump, with good asr.  High 3/4 as, commanded both sides of the plate with good down hill plane.

Domenic Marotta (2020 2B, Sewell, NJ)  A strong kid, with some juice, has a hanging leg lift with long stride.  Shows consistently that he can get the barrel through short and fast.  Shows patience in his at bats and good vision.  Ball exploded off his bat for a hard double in his first at bat.

Noah Collier (2021 RHP, Chalfont, PA) An average height pitcher, with a thick lower half. Keeps high hands, throws from a high 3/4 slot, some looseness and good extension.  A kid that will throw strikes, and pound the lower half of the zone day in and day out.  Had two strong innings of work, striking out two.  Fastball was 77-82 and a cb that sat at 64, that had good depth, and was thrown for strikes.

Aidan Zakarewicz (2023 2B, Chalfont, PA)  Long, lanky frame  lower 3/4 slot, slings it a little, just fills it up with 2FB.  flashed slurve shaped BB with some depth, hard to pick up.  Competes pitch by pitch.  Commands very well on both sides of the plate, will run his fb hard on hitters hands.  Spread and even, toe tap guy, pretty simple in lower half.  Hips and hands fire simultaneously, that creates a fast bat whip through the zone.  Had a couple loud hit balls, especially a double to the left center gap.

Red vs White

2/23/2020

Noah Wieczorek (2021 RHP, Liverpool, NY)  Simple operation, coordinated for size. Rocker into leg lift, good lower half usage, Long, loose AA w/ some whip.  Fastball was 82-85 and BB was 68 that had some depth with hard spin.  Had 4 k's with zero walks.

Jackson Brinker (2021 SS, Weston, MA)  Hands work pretty well, has compact bat speed.  Squared up a ball for a double to right center field gap.  Had another good at bat for a single to left.

Connor McCreery (2021 RHP, Williston Park, NY)  Quick pace, some heavy sinking life to FB.  Late hand break, some cross fire.  Was 83-87 with his fastball and had 4 k's through two innings of work.

White vs Royal

2/23/2020

Joseph Dipippo (2023 3B, Torrington, CT)  Very strong, slightly open and upright.  Tends to leak his hips a little early, but gets the barrel out more than not.  Barreled a ball for a hard single.

Steven Hardiman (2022 LHP, N Massapequa, NY) High waisted, young, tiny frame with plenty of rtf.  Hides ball well from a high 3/4 slot.  Fastball sat from 75-77, with good asr.  Had four k's in two innings pitched.

Noah Barrall (2021 3B, Delmar, DE)  Athletic body, with rtf.  Had some really good at bats that created deep pitch counts.  Barrel stays consistent through his swing and is able to get to a good contact position.  Hit some balls really hard all day, with two singles smoked up the middle.

Christopher Antonelli (2020 RHP, Yonkers, NY)  Lanky, thick lower 1/2 build with some room to add.  Deliberate rocker into high hands and coiled leg left/turn.  Fastball that sat 80-86, working down and both sides of the plate.  Had four strike outs facing four batters.

Royal vs Red

2/23/2020

Kyle Garrett (2022 OF, Pasadena, MD)  A small kid that has a good knack for the strike zone.  Gains leverage by getting in hitters counts and using a fast, controlled swing.  Showed good pop to the opposite field for a double to right center.  Also had a well struck ball to left field for a single.

Michael Quigley (2020 RHP, Halifax, MA)  A quick tempo delivery, with a high 3/4 arm slot.  He was 87-92, flashed a sharp cb with late break.  Had five strikeouts in two innings pitched.  Uses his lower half despite tendency to over rotate.

Andrew Dongelewic (2022 RHP, Latham, NY)  A thin kid, that will develop strength with maturity.  Slightly open, narrow base, medium frame, really coils into back hip, very flat stroke.  Had a hard single in his first at bat.  Medium build with some RTF, Long limbs, Smooth, simple operation, side step rocker to inward leg lift. ¾ slot with some quickness to AA. Commands both sides of the plate, sinking and cutting FB, puts away hitters with short, hard biting 11/5 cb,  ability to drop in CB for strikes.
