Sophomore World Scout Notes: Day 1

Cooper Hummel (2025, Cascade, Iowa) spun a gem for Iowa Select 2025 Scout on Thursday. Hummel worked up to 83 mph on his fastball with later life to it. He turned to the pitch often, commanding it well and filling up the strike zone. He punched out 8 hitters over 4 2/3 innings pitched. He limited the opposition to just 1 hit and was able to keep a no-hitter intact through the first four innings. He mixed in a slurvy breaking ball with 10-4 shape and also some more 11-5 vertical shape to it. Heck of an outing from the uncommitted left-handed pitcher. Helped keep the opposition off the board and powered his team to a victory after the bullpen got it done.
