13u ('27) Tourney All-American Team

Jheremy Brown      Cameron McElwaney
The 2022 summer circuit was one to remember as plenty of players from across the country made a name for themselves, battling it out between the white lines, setting the scene for what is sure to be a big 2023 tournament circuit. Below we take a look at some of the statistical standouts and while some of the 2027 graduates were young enough to play 12u baseball and did such, they were taken into consideration for the 12u All Tournament Team which is set to be released following this. Several teams took home some serious hardware while other players made statements with MVP performances, either with the stick or on the mound.

In total, between the first and second teams of hitters and pitchers, 14 players participated in the 2022 13u Select Festival while several others earned invites and put together loud performances at the 2022 13u National Showcase. Leading the way in terms of All-Tournament Team selections were Evan Stramanak (Florida) and Matthew Kelley (California) as both earned the honor an remarkable 20 times each with Stramanak winning MVP honors at the 13u BCS this summer after a ridiculous and Kelley hitting .416 on the year with 91 stolen bags. Between the two teams offensively, 25 players recorded double-digit All-Tournament Team honors. On the mound a pair of left-handers sat atop the ATT list as both Colton Christman, who led the group with 112 strikeouts, and Leo Reina, who struck out 82 in 66 innings pitched, each claimed the honor 15 times apiece.

That said, it's the left-handed hitting catcher out of Florida, Evan Stramanak who is tabbed as the 13u Tournament Player of the Year after an eye-opening slash line of 0.461/0.566/0.720 with an OPS 1.285 over nearly 300 plate appearances. Not only did he show no fear in playing, he consistently performed as the numbers suggest with his stats across the board (20 doubles, 11 triples, 6 home runs and 88 RBI) ranking amongst the best on the first team, proving a level of consistency in his game.

The Pitcher of Year award was just as difficult given to decide upon and could've gone a variety of ways given the numbers put up by some of the arms, but ultimately left-hander Brent Frosch of Texas takes hardware. Frosch's strikeout numbers are amongst, if not the best in this project as he average just over 2 strikeouts-per-inning while maintaining a 1.240 WHIP while allowing just 19 hits over 40 1/3 innings pitched. The 5-foot-10 southpaw bumped into the low-80s with his fastball and though he may not light up the radar guns just yet, he's proven he knows how to pitch, mix and match, and most importantly, collect outs. On top of what he did on the mound Frosch also earned First Team honors for his offense as he hit .472 on the year with 13 doubles and a 1.236 OPS.
