East Labor Day Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Jayden Garcia (2024, Spring Hill, Fla.) shined defensively for his team this weekend. He was able to swallow up any ball in the dirt this weekend. He uses his frame to square up the ball behind the plate and keeps it in front of him. He controlled the run game with instinctive back picks and intent to his actions. I had him at 2.08 and 2.10 on his pop time to second base during warmups in Friday’s contest. Garcia gains ground with athletic movements present behind the dish. He uses a spread stance in the batters’ box, sinking his weight back onto his back leg as he uses a big leg lift to load. He strides forward with the hands in a position to hit and has strength in the hands to get it out in front of the plate.
