Tyler Baird (2025, Cornelius, N.C.) was excellent in his start on the mound as he tossed five innings of one-hit/one-walk baseball while punching out seven. The long and projectable right-hander, at 6-foot-2 and only 160 pounds right now, looks the part of someone that should throw hard long-term, and the stuff has plenty of success now. He works comfortably in the low-80s, peaking around 84-85 mph, from a longer arm action that he syncs up well to command the bottom part of the zone. The fastball has a good amount of late running life to it allowing him to work the glove side part of the plate with intent while missing bats. He’s got some feel to spin the ball already too, but there’s some development necessary there that will come as he matures and climbs the velocity ladder across the mix.
