Kernels Foundation Scout Notes: Days 1-2


The Indiana Fall Stars got off to an early, 4-0 first inning lead versus the GRB Rays Green and never looked back, winning 5-0 and advancing to the second round of the playoffs. Brennen Weigert (2022, Fort Wayne, Ind.) wasted no time getting the party started for the Fall Stars, as he took the first pitch of the game through the six-hole for a single. Weigert was on fire this weekend, as he finished hitting .429 in his four tournament games. He is a quick and twitchy player with a smooth swing from the right side. He has present barrel control and easy bat speed, and the path is fluid. Weigert has a track record of producing at a high level, and given the tools, we see that continuing at the next level. The primary shortstop also displayed plenty of athleticism in the field, and he has the hands to stay at short, but if needed, he has the speed and arm strength to play any number of positions in the future.
