Florida Qualifier Scout Notes

Coming into the qualifier, the FTB/Phillies Scout Team boasted the most talented roster on paper and that held true as they won all four of their games with production up and down the lineup. While there’s talented bats from top to bottom, some of the more consistent ones or the ones hitting out of the heart are mentioned here with Tucker Toman (2022, Columbia, S.C.), Andruw Jones (2022, Suwanee, Ga.), JeanPierre Ortiz (2022, Carolina, P.R.) and Blake Cyr (2022, Windermere, Fla.).

Toman hit out of the third spot in the lineup throughout the weekend and it’s his combination of hit and power that has him fit right into that spot. It’s an explosive swing that we saw from the left side all weekend long and although he may have struggled some to get his timing down against a variety of arms, he showed what he could do on night one with a single and triple. The ability to create leverage out front as well as he does with the quickness of his hands is what gives him the ability to hit the ball as far as he can and will continue to be the reason he’ll be successful at the next level.
