17u Fall National Championship Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Matt Hansen (2024, Colorado Springs, Colo.) performed well yet again at the plate on day four. The uncommitted shortstop brings a well-rounded skill set to the table that can contribute on both sides of the ball. In the box, he utilizes a balanced, smooth left-handed stroke that is capable of finding the barrel frequently. Natural loft within the swing, combined with above-average bat speed help produce quality pull-side power. There is more power that should come down the line, as the frame still has plenty of projectability left. At shortstop, Hansen displays fluid actions that are capable of playing advanced defense up the middle. Soft hands allow him to catch the ball well, while a quick first step helps him range well in both directions. Hansen already has tools present that could contribute at a high level and there is still even more room to further develop.
