Caedmon Parker (2021, Montgomery, Texas) pitched on Saturday night in his first outing since his high school season ended several weeks ago. The TCU commit has been a big draft riser this spring and is currently ranked in the top-100 on the PG 2021 draft board. He has a super projectable, lean frame at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds and has a lot of athleticism on the mound. The delivery is very fluid with clean arm action and he repeats it well. He threw 59 pitches in this outing and his final line was three innings pitched with five strikeouts and allowed two runs on five hits while walking two. His command/control both project to be above-average but he battled with some command issues early in this outing likely because he hadn’t thrown in a few weeks. Most of the hits off him weren’t solid contact either and looked much better as the outing progressed.

His fastball velocity was a bit mixed early but once he settled in it was sitting 88-90 (topped at 91). The pitch showed running life to it in the last frame. He showed two different breaking balls and had feel to spin both. The first one was a hammer curve that had tight rotation and sat mostly around 73. Also flashed more of a power slider around 77-80 as the outing progressed and that was sharp. He was able to get around the slider a bit better and the pitch showed solid bite to it at times. Also flashed a feel for a changeup with tumble to a left-handed hitter.

This start was more of a tune-up for Parker and he gets ready to throw at an event or two prior to the draft. He clearly was a bit rusty but for the most part showed off the intangibles have moved him up draft boards this spring. He’s still super projectable and the fastball velocity is normally a touch higher with a feel to spin. He will be a solid addition to the TCU staff if he makes it to campus in the fall.
