John Glasscock (2023, Scottsville, Va.) is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound highly-ranked right-handed pitcher who toed the rubber for the Cincinnati Spikes 16u this morning at Brook Run during their first round bout. On the mound, Glasscock has good size and a strong build, who uses his stature to really drive down the mound and add velocity and life to his fastball. John would work the first four innings for his club and scatter two hits, while striking out three on the way to the win. To navigate his assignment, Glasscock showcased a pitch arsenal of a fastball, high of 89 miles-per-hour, a curveball in the mid-70s, and a change up in the upper-70s. Glasscock’s clean arm action produces, nasty movement on his pitches, such as tail and sink to his fastball, tight rotation and depth to his curve, and arm speed and dive with his changeup. Glasscock, a good athlete on the mound, fields his position well, and pairs his feel for the leather with clean throws to bases. A West Virginia commit, Glasscock currently ranks inside the top-50 right-handed pitchers in the 2023 class, and now has collected more than a strikeout per inning over his first 9 2/3 innings of work in 2021.
