13u Elite Scout Notes: Day 1 & 2

Kade LaCoste (2025, Slidell, La.) took the mound in game one for the Makos, throwing 2 1/3 innings, striking out three. He ran his fastball up to 80 mph with some crossfire actions landing closed as he comes down the mound. He showed some feel for a slider with good hand speed throwing it in the upper-60s. At 5-foot-10, 160 pounds he still has room to fill out in his frame and will certainly be one to keep an eye on as he will be eligible to get back on the mound later in the tournament.

Corbyn Clayton (2026, Tupelo, Miss.) showed some advanced mechanics on the mound for his age as he got the ball for the Yalobusha Giants on day one of the 13U National Elite Championship. Clayton ran his fastball up to 82 mph in the first and settled in at 79/80 mph for the remainder of his 2 2/3 innings as he went on to strikeout three. At the plate he added a triple showing his athleticism on both sides of the ball. The upside on the mound is nice through as he does a nice job using the lower half and showed a quick arm.
