National Select Scout Notes: Day 1

Getting the start this morning for NEB was the No. 1 prospect in the class Thomas White (2023, Rowley, Mass.) and he certainly showed some electricity. This was our first time seeing White in nearly a year after his performance at the Northeast Prospect Showcase in 2020 but White certainly showed what earned him such a lofty ranking for the class. At 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, White is a gangly trebuchet of a prospect with long limbs, a projectable build, and sky-high upside from a physicality standpoint. The delivery is methodical down the mound with a true three-quarters release as the effort level is incredibly low. It looks like White is playing catch out there on the mound with very easy velocity. His fastball peaked at 95 mph and sat mostly in the 91-94 mph range during the entirety of the outing. The command was a bit scattered but the whip he generates from his long and loose arm stroke allows the ball to come out of the hand super cleanly. White has a big breaking curveball in the low-70s along with a firmer changeup in the low-80s but he only threw each of them sparingly. White remains the top uncommitted prospect in the country and easily one of the more fun prospects to watch as the upside remains near limitless for the young southpaw.
