Battle of the Southeast Scout Notes: Day 1





Zachary Harris (2022, Milton. Ga.), a 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, threw a no-hitter for Georgia Jackets 17U National against Canes Southeast 17U. He pounded both sides of the plate with his fastball that he ran up to 90 mph with arm-side run. Harris maintained his velocity throughout his seven innings of work, with his 96th and final pitch clocked at 88 mph. A short breaking curveball in the 74-78 mph range from his three-quarter arm slot was an effective secondary pitch, avoiding barrels and keeping the Canes hitters off-balance. It was an impressive performance by the Cambridge High School junior as he recorded seven strikeouts in the 2-0 victory. Plenty of upside here in Harris’ slender frame with a quick, slinger-like arm action and tough slot, especially against right-handed hitters.
