EMB Gold 14U took down Storm 14U in a tightly contested matchup on Saturday morning that was decided by one run. Throwing the last three innings and securing the win for EMB was right-hander Kaden Alstad (2025, Decorah, Iowa). Alstad tossed an impressive three innings, striking out seven opposing batters while walking just one. He would give up one run on two hits. The 6-foot, 180-pounder has a big and physical frame for his age. He utilizes a short and compact arm action with drop-and-drive lower half mechanics. He has a simple and repeatable operation and stays upright throughout, maintaining his line with the plate. Alstad sat 75-77 mph with natural cut to the fastball and flashed great feel for his breaker. The curveball showed solid swing-and-miss potential, as it had both horizontal and vertical movement, especially when thrown to the glove side. Alstad displayed plenty of projectable components in this one and will be a name to follow moving forward. 

Despite a formidable last-inning effort by the home team, the visiting Omaha Tigers Black defeated Storm 14U by a score of 3-1. Isaac Marek (2025, Excelsior, Minn.) turned in a quality start for Storm 14U, giving up just one run and striking out seven opposing batters in three innings. Marek showed excellent movement to each pitch, displaying big time swing-and-miss potential in his repertoire. He sat 77-79 mph with heavy arm-side run to the fastball and complemented it with a true 12/6 curveball that had late downer action. The right-hander has a long and lanky 6-foot frame with plenty of room to fill and physical development remaining. He utilizes a short arm circle that comes through clean and easy and really projects for added arm speed as he gets stronger. Marek consistently attacked with the fastball, and he did a great job of loading into the back hip and engaging the lower half.
