What Happened:
Georgia hosted an in-conference series against Kentucky as the Dawgs looked to continue the momentum from stealing a pair of games from Vanderbilt just a few weeks ago. They came out a bit sluggish Friday night, but quickly turned things around as they had Jonathan Cannon on the bump Saturday night in what would be a highly-competitive ball game that they ended up winning. Timely hitting and a bevy of runs combined with solid starts on the mound helped Georgia steal the series against Kentucky as they moved to just under .500 in conference play with a record of 7-8.

Carrying Tools: Starting Pitching and a Key Reliever. The combination of a couple of hopeful first round picks in Ryan Webb and Jonathan Cannon has been a huge piece of the puzzle for Georgia this year. The two have combined for 15 starts, and although the record doesn’t reflect how well they pitched due to run support, their draft stocks have raised from performances this year. In 72 1/3 innings pitched, they have 96 punchouts with only 16 walks. It’s hard to not mention another key piece of the rotation in Ben Harris. The lefty has appeared 13 times and even got a start this season. He threw a career best 4 1/3 innings on Saturday and struck out six as he picked up the win. Look for these three to continue to help push the Dawgs forward as they look to make an SEC conference tournament run.
