 In what will become the eventual norm at each of his starts this year, Petty toed the rubber in front of a packed house of both pro scouts and fans. The 2020 PG All-American Classic alum did not disappoint, as he sat in the upper-90s for the majority of his three innings versus a talented St.Augustine’s Prep squad. Petty became the first prospect in PG event history to record a pitch of 100 miles per hour this past summer at the 17U WWBA National Championship. The resounding buzz coming into the day was, "How hard will Chase Petty throw today?" Well, what Petty did in the second inning of his start on Tuesday will certainly be something this scout will never forget. With the intensity starting to rise, the dynamic right-hander reached back and fired a pitch that left the scouting crowd borderline speechless. One hundred and two miles per hour is what everyone saw on their gun, a feat that can only be rivaled by the likes of Hunter Greene and Riley Pint during their prep careers. As for the rest of the outing, the University of Florida commit showed marked improvements on the overall shape and consistency to his slider, while showing improved control of his delivery. Petty ran into some trouble from a command respect later in the outing, but that is to be expected for his first game action of the year. Overall, the uniqueness in which Petty is able to create this type of consistent velocity is something that scouts will be monitoring all season long. There is no questioning the arm talent or the unicorn-like flexibility and athleticism, but consistency amongst his full repertoire will be the determining factor in just how high Petty will go in this July’s MLB Draft.

 The buzz around House has been immense this spring as he is shaping up to be a top-15 pick in the upcoming MLB Draft this July. We all know the physical stature he utilizes as he stands at a muscled-up 6-foot-3. The big question this spring is if he could swing it against top arms and this week, he proved just that. House faced off against the top ’22 arm in Dylan Lesko and did not disappoint. His first at-bat was a battle as he fouled off a handful of nasty changeups and inside fastballs before driving one up the middle for a base knock. His best at-bat of the night was a double down the left field line as he got the bat head around a 95-mph fastball. The bat speed here is immense and after his performance last night, you won’t have anyone second guessing his ability to produce against top-tier pitching. His draft stock has only gone up after this week and you can expect him to be taken early day one of the draft with it being common sense to think he will never step foot on campus at Tennessee.
