CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- As Perfect Game tournaments and showcases continue to expand at a rapid rate all across the country, so too has the PG scouting department.

With more tournaments and more showcases on the schedule, more talented players will continue to play in Perfect Game events for the first time. Perfect Game has always been committed to discovering the top prospects in the country, and the commitment made to expand the scouting department will allow PG to do just that.

“As Perfect Game continues to expand upon its industry leading events, both tournaments and showcases, across various levels, it was clear we needed to expand the scouting staff as well to cover all the growth,” Perfect Game National Crosschecker Jheremy Brown said.“Not only did we hire in areas around the country where there’s exponential growth, we also hire highly-qualified scouts to come with years of knowledge, exceptional background within the game, and a passion to grow upon what we do at PG.”

In total, Perfect Game has added eight new full-time scouts, spread out across the country.

Travis Ice comes to PG after six years with the Los Angeles Angels while also bringing experience as a junior college coach. Ice will be based out of Kansas City.

Alexis Gonzalez joins PG after working as a scout with the Oakland A’s, as well as helping run an 18u travel ball team. Gonzalez was a first-team all-conference backstop at Cal State Fullerton and was also a member of the Puerto Rican National Team. She will be based out of Southern California.

Billy Cruz has worked for Perfect Game in a variety of roles over the last couple years, with experience in operations, events, and scouting. Now a full-time scout, Cruz will operate out of Austin, Texas.

Joe Saunders comes to Perfect Game after working as a scout for the Astros, Dodgers, and Rays, while also having worked with MLB Advance Media. Saunders will be working for Perfect Game out of Houston, Texas.

Jason Phillips joins Perfect Game after a long MLB playing career. He followed his playing days up with 10-plus years of experience for MLB teams in various roles, and will scout of the Atlanta area for Perfect Game.

AJ Denny has been working for Perfect Game as an intern in the Northeast for a couple summers and also played in a number of Perfect Game events before signing with UCONN. Denny will now become a full-time scout and continue to work out of the Northeast office.

Michael Reuter was the captain of the baseball team at Central College in Pella, Iowa during his playing days, and has experience working in athletic departments at both Central and Grand View University. Reuter will work full-time out of the Iowa office.

Sean Berry has 35 years of experience working in professional baseball, including playing 11 seasons in the Major Leagues for five different franchises. A UCLA alum, Berry was drafted ninth overall in the 1986 MLB Draft. Berry will fill a number of roles for Perfect Game, including scouting.

“We are excited about adding several new full-time scouts to our staff,” Perfect Game President and Founder Jerry Ford said. “All are very talented and will help us greatly as we continue to grow. We take great pride in our scouting division and their ability to evaluate players.”

Perfect Game will also fill out an even larger scouting department this summer with the help of our internship program and a number of contracted roles, which allows even more players the opportunity to play in front of Perfect Game scouts at events across the country.
