13u & 14u National Showcase Announced

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The pinnacle event of the 12U, 13U and 14U seasons, the Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival now has dates and locations set for the 2021 renditions of the games across all three age levels. The Festival itself has continued to grow since the inaugural 14U game in 2016, which has already produced three first round picks and several impact players at the collegiate level, and saw the first installment of the 13U game in 2019 before adding the 12U Festival to the schedule last summer.

After a successful launch of the 12U Festival in 2020, the game will once again return to the East Cobb Complex on Aug. 15 and feature the best 2026 (born on or after May 1, 2008) and 2027 graduates from around the country that youth baseball has to offer. To help with the selection process this year, not only are 12U players eligible to participate in the 13U regional showcases happening throughout the country, but Perfect Game is also installing a PG Skills Challenge held July 7-8 at the East Cobb Complex.

The 13U PG Select Festival is going into its third year and returns to a familiar home on Aug. 29 as Oklahoma will once again play host to the top 2025 (born on or after May 1, 2007) and 2026 graduates our scouts evaluate throughout the showcase and tournament circuit. The inaugural 13U Festival in 2019 saw 16 alums go on to play in last year’s 14U game, a number and trend that could very well continue to grow moving forward.

To help with the evaluation process, Perfect Game has once again created a 13U regional showcase schedule throughout early spring and into the summer, allowing our scouts to evaluate talent and ultimately hand out invites to the 13U National Showcase, which will serve as a final look prior to the roster announcement. The invite-only National Showcase is scheduled to take place July 23-25 at FITTEAM Ballpark in West Palm Beach, the Spring Training home of the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. Last year, the 13U National Showcase saw 12 players additional players picked for the Select Festival.

The 14U Select Festival began in 2016, and the pandemic saw the 13u and 14u Festivals, and the PG All-American Classic, converge on Oklahoma City last September. The 14U Select Festival will once again return to its unofficial home of JetBlue Ballpark in Fort Myers, Florida, the Spring Training site of the Boston Red Sox, over Labor Day Weekend, on Sept. 5. 2024 graduates (born on or after May 1, 2006) and 2025 graduates are eligible for the 14U Select Festival.

Similar to the 13u Festival selection process, the 14U National Showcase (July 30-Aug. 1 in Fort Myers, Fla.) has continued to develop into a premier event for the age level and serves as the final look prior to the roster selections. Players can earn an invite to this prestigious showcase through their performance at a 14U regional showcase or tournament, which take place throughout the spring and summer, leading up to the event. Last year saw 40 players in attendance get the call, notifying them and their families that they were chosen for the 14U PG Select Festival.

"The 12U, 13U, and 14U Perfect Game Select Festivals are some of the most fun and exciting events on our schedule," Jerry Ford, President and Founder of Perfect Game, said. "Scouting and recruiting have really changed over the years, and players as young as 13 and 14 are being identified and recruited by colleges more than ever. These events bring together many of the very best players in their respective age groups in a fun, competitive environment and gives a glimpse into the future stars of our game. Already, we’ve seen multiple players from our first 14U Select Festival drafted in the first round, with many more excelling in college baseball now. These young players are treated like Major Leaguers and they will never forget this experience."

In a game that features some of the best 14U talent from around the country, the inaugural year of the 14U Festival has already seen more than a handful of alums go on to professional baseball with Robert Hassell III, Mick Abel and Nick Bitsko (2017 game) all going in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft while Jackson Miller, Blaze Jordan (2017) and Liam Norris were also selected last June. Armando Cruz and Manuel Beltre (both 2018 Festival alums) signed for more than a combined $6 million dollars this past Jan. 15 when the international signing period opened up, joining Erick Pena (2017 Festival), who signed for just under $4 million just a year prior.

Alums have continued to make their impact felt throughout the baseball world and at the collegiate level early this spring, whether it be Dylan Crews (2016) who has got off to a blazing start for LSU, the Miami duo of arms in Alejandro Rosario (2017) and Victor Mederos (2016) were both excellent against No. 1 ranked Florida, or Robert Moore (2016) and Christian Little (2017/2018), both of whom graduated high school early and are already making an impact in the SEC.

And with three of the top-five players ranked in the 2021 rankings having worn the Select Festival jersey, it’s likely you’ll be hearing about even more alums come this July’s draft cycle.

“One of the most rewarding parts of these events are the community partnerships and relationships we have built to support children fighting illness as well providing hope and opportunity to children in America’s underserved communities," Jennifer Ford, Executive Director of the Perfect Game Cares Foundation, said. "To see our players and families get involved in the fundraising is very humbling and heartwarming. We continue our mission to grow the games of baseball and softball while recognizing that it is more than just the game itself. Helping children and giving back to those who need us most is at the forefront of these very special events."

Perfect Game scouts will be out watching and gathering names for both National Showcases throughout the spring and summer, both at tournaments as well as showcases, as the schedule will be filled with both 13U and 14U regional showcases.
