SANFORD, Fla. – The championship game was well-played by both teams at the PG 13U Florida Select Championship between TBT National White and Florida Burn Atlantic 13U Navy. Both teams filled up the strike zone at a 60 percent clip or better and there was just a single error committed by either team. The “old school” pitching and defensive duel came down to a big sixth inning by the Burn.

Ultimately, Florida Burn came away with a 3-2 victory over TBT.

The Burn struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first on a double by Tyler Ellis, who had a monster tournament, hitting .556 with six extra-base hits. TBT scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead. Jonathan Matos knocked in a run in the fourth with a single and Bryce Goldstein followed with an RBI single of his own in the fifth. That set the stage for Ellis again, who came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth inning. The left-handed hitter came through with a two-out, two-RBI single to take the lead for the Burn.

Bubba Coleman was fantastic on the mound for TBT, as the starter went 5 1/3 innings giving up only three hits. Christopher Reali threw five innings for the Burn and struck out six before handing the ball to Braeden Harris. Harris did the rest, throwing two scoreless, hitless innings, striking out four, to preserve the championship.

The Burn and TBT programs are no strangers to championship games. This time the Burn came through late to take the championship in a stacked field.
