Grant Govel, OF/RHP, Class of 2023
College Commitment: Southern California

Govel is a big recruit for the Trojans in that he brings a significant amount of two-way potential with him. A 2023 from California and Palos Verdes High School, Govel was a standout at the Class of 2023 All-American Games where he showed an upper-80s fastball on the mound, hit well in game action with a loud double off of the opposite field wall, and showed off the arm strength in the outfield topping out at 93 mph during outfield drills. Govel is a top-200 player in the class and is one to follow closely as the tools he has at his disposal project very well moving forward.

Outlook for the Class: Govel now makes the top recruit in the class of 2023 for USC, coming in as the No. 143 player in the National PG Rankings. He is also the fifth recruit in a class made up of all in-state products. The focus of this class is certainly on the offensive side of the ball as all five recruits are position players, with three outfielders in Govel, Landon Greenhouse and Riley Hunsaker. They have a shortstop and catcher committed in this class as well in Dean Curley at short and Zachary Anderson behind the plate. Govel gives this class a big boost as he is not exclusively an outfielder.
