The final day of The Northeast Qualifier brought plenty of well-known prospects and a few intriguing uncommitted ones along the way.



West Virginia commit Tommy Beam (2021, Gibsonia, PA) got the quarterfinal assignment for eventual champions East Coast Sandhogs, showing tons of upside and intrigue with his near limitless frame and quick arm. The 6-foot-7 righthander has long limbs and repeats his delivery well for someone of his stature. Working from an over-the-top slot, Beam creates extreme downhill plane to his fastball that was up to 89 mph in this look. There is some effort through his release and sporadic command because of it but he was able to battle through those slight issues to deliver five full innings of two-run ball in an important game. The secondary offerings are still in the developmental stages as they feature two distinct shape profiles and some inconsistencies with release point. The curveball is best at present with true 12-6 shape and power to it when thrown with conviction and out in front. The slider has flashes of short horizontal tilt that occasionally misses the barrel. The uber-projectable Beam may be best suited with a couple years on campus but there is a lot of things to dream on with the possibility of this being a potential high-end arm when all is said and done.
