Heath Andrews, rhp, Class of 2023
Commitment: North Carolina State

Andrews jumped onto the national scene in a big way this summer, making the most out of his PG appearance on the mound during the 16u WWBA World Championships. While there’s near limitless physical projection on his long and loose 6-foot-3, 185 pound frame, Andrews’ arm speed already stands out as he has run his fastball up to 92 mph and he powers the fastball down to the lower third of the zone. Though he worked just 3.1 innings this summer (he also hit .300 in the tournament), Andrews proved just how effective he can be with a pair of secondary pitches that he can land in the zone and will continue to refine, punching out five in the span without allowing a hit.

Outlook for the Class: The Pack have done an excellent job of recruiting early in the process and their 2023 class is no different, cleaning up in their home state while reaching into neighboring states like they’ve done with Andrews, a Virginia native. Checking in at No. 99 in the latest class of 2023 national rankings, Andrews joins fellow ultra-projectable righthander Chance Mako (No. 79) as top 100 prospects while the class as a whole boasts another two nationally ranked prospects. The class is currently eight deep for Head Coach Elliott Avent and staff with a 50/50 split between primary righthanded pitchers and positional prospects.
