East Coast Pro Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2

Day 3 of the East Coast Pro featured some top flight pitching matchups, but at least early it was the bats who had the story of the day.

Starting off the morning game for the Red Sox, and making quick work of his opponents, was lefthander Jack Findlay (2021, Ledgewood, N.J.) who worked extremely quickly, mixed four pitches for strikes and whiffs, and was wholly impressive. Findlay isn’t going to blow you away in terms of velocity, he’s only really 87-89 mph with the heater, but he commands the zone, fills it up, and throws any of his pitches in any counts which is what was very impressive. The mature lefthander works with a simple, easy delivery with a clean arm stroke, and the pitches come out of a similar tunnel which allows his deception to play up. Both the slider and changeup project to be solid average pitches with the changeup falling off the table late to get some bad swings from righthanders and he could bury the slider in the upper-70's low in the strike zone for changes. Findlay also showed a curveball, that might have just been a manipulation of the breaker, in the mid-70's that was landed for quality. The Notre Dame commit also comes right at hitters, with little time in between pitches and uses that to his advantage to generate discomfort. It was a strong showing for the southpaw who already has a very good feel on how to pitch.

The dates and locations for both the 13u and 14u National Showcases have been announced and will bring in most of the top players from across the country to compete against one another.
