World Series Scout Notes: 7/25

The PG World Series routinely accumulates some of the most elite talent from the reaches of the country and the 2020 version is no different. With three age groups going on, one technically finishing up on Saturday, the Boombah Complex over in Sanford, Fla. will be sure to see a good bit of talent throughout the weekend.


It was another strong outing for Florida commit William Ross (2022, Winter Garden, FL) who was fairly dominant over the course of a five shutout inning start as he twirled a gem during the first slot of the day for the 16U age group. The righthander is an extra large framed righthanded pitcher as he stands at a listed 6-8, 230 pounds with already good strength and durability built throughout. This allows him to hold his stuff deep into games as he did during this look, peaking at 88 mph with the fastball and holding that 85-87 mph range throughout the entirety of the start. Ross has a fairly compact and loose arm stroke with good arm quickness and shows excellent body control for someone of his size too. The delivery remains compact with simple motions and Ross does a nice job filling the strike zone up with three pitches including a firm changeup and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that he commands nicely. Ross will throw harder as he continues to develop but there’s a fairly strong command and pitchability profile at present as the stuff is plenty good and the strike throwing ability is consistent.
