Ultimate Baseball Championship Scout Notes: Day 1


Turning in a stellar performance for 5 Star during the first slot of the day was touted righthander Brodie Chestnutt (2021, Warner Robbins, Ga.) as he tossed a little over three shutout innings. The Florida State signee was smooth and controlled the entire way, sitting mostly 86-89 mph with the fastball and just moving the pitch around the zone with intent and life to the arm side. Chestnutt has a well-controlled delivery with minimal moving parts and repeats well, driving down the mound with a longer arm stroke. He does it from a fairly low effort standpoint too as Chestnutt filled up the zone with competitive pitches all afternoon. He showed a handful of changeups that were decent while the breaking ball was improved in the 75-77 mph range, showing good two-plane action and depth to the offering. The pitchability was really
