17u Central Elite/18u World Series Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2

The Dallas Nationals 17U Patterson and Premier Futures 2021 matched up in a tight, well-pitched, well-defended game. The Nationals finally scratched out a run in the top of the 7th inning to break a 0-0 tie, and then held on to defeat Premier, 1-0. Breck Carver’s (2021, Lantana, TX) 89 pitch complete game was a true gem. The rising senior at Guyer HS mixed and matched a solid three-pitch arsenal to near perfection. His 83-86 mph fastball was worked to both sides of the plate with regularity. His two secondary pitches also showed advanced command and control. His 71 mph, 12-6 breaking curveball was a tight spinner and showed plus bite at the dish. His 72 mph slider was more cutter-like in nature and was thrown with the same arm action as his fastball. Over the course of his seven innings of work, the 6-0, 190 pound Carver allowed three hits and only walked two, while striking out eight.
