There have been rumors around Walker Watson (2023, Hampton, Ga.) out of Georgia and his dominance on the summer circuit. Watson had the chance to pitch in front of the PG Scouting staff on Tuesday and showed some really intriguing stuff. The righthander has efficient movements on the mound and a quick arm. He stays online to the plate with a relatively short stride down the mound given his great size at 6-4, 195 pounds. The fastball comes out cleanly and has been up into the upper 80's this summer. This look was not quite to that velocity but he did live in the 80-84 mph range with his heater while the arm speed and size certainly indicate more velocity is to come. The righty from south of Atlanta works around the zone with his fastball and complements it with a breaking ball that he is comfortable going to in just about any count. The pitch shows solid spin to it and 11-5 shape out of his hand. Watson looks the part of a future big-time pitcher and certainly one for coaches to get on their radar.
