16U WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

#7 overall ranked & one of the top uncommitted prospects in his class, Jayson Jones (2022 Savannah, Texas), is starting to heat up at the dish. He sports an uber-athletic build and is nothing short of physical. Jones plays a rangy shortstop and has a rocket for an arm as he can make throws from all angles. He projects well at the position and has a great overall feel for it. In the box, he had a rough start as he was rung up on a couple of close calls, but he didn’t let that get him down. In today’s contest, he took matters into his own hands and looked to do damage early in counts. He got the bat head out front while ahead in a count and hammered one down the pull-side line that would have been a no doubter, but he just yanked it foul. Later in the same at-bat, he kept his hands inside the baseball and drove it off the rightfield wall for a stand-up double. Jones has been creating a lot of buzz in the recruiting world and is someone you can expect to make an announcement here any day on where he will be taking his talents to at the next level.
