Peyton Jones, LHP, Cal State Fullerton
One of several interesting Titan freshmen that could have an impact early in their careers at Cal State Fullerton, Jones is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound lefthander from Utah. He is similar to fellow Titan righthander Gavin Kennedy in that it’s easy to see both putting on 20 pounds and seeing a subsequent uptick in velocity as the body matures while also being a weekend starter before it’s all said and done. Jones came out of the ‘pen for Fullerton against Tulane and attacked hitters with a 85-88 mph fastball that he worked to both sides of the plate and a 74-77 mph big-breaking curveball that he comfortably threw for strikes, particularly doing a good job to back-door the pitch to righthanded hitters. Jones is definitely a name to keep an eye on to track his progression.
