4/22 Game Recaps

12U Southeast Championship

The PBA Outlaws topped the Florida Force by a score of 4-0 to improve to 2-1 in pool play. Mason Howell pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit with 7 strikeouts. Orlando Fernandez was 1-for-2 with a double, while Logan Krause had a hit, run scored and an RBI to lead the PBA offense.

Greyson McNeil dominated with 8 strikeouts in 5 shutout innings for the Kangaroo Court Roos in a 5-0 win over the South Florida Spikes. Cameron Uzzillia went 3-for-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI to help the Roos to a 3-0 record in pool play.

Behind a great outing from Anthony Diaz the Boca Hitmen topped the Naples Cyclones 4-0. Diaz recorded all but the final out, dominating with 7 strikeouts in 5.2 scoreless innings. Matthew Pagan had a hit and an RBI to help the Hitmen record their first win.

Jonah Miley, Jason Bello, Matthew Turner and Evan Taveras carried the Gulf Coast Monarchs to a 5-1 win over the Sarasota Sting. Miley recorded 7 strikeouts and allowed just 1 run in the complete game effort. Bello (2-for-3, RBI), Taveras (1-for-2, 2B, R) and Turner (2-for-2, R, RBI) led the Monarchs' offensive attack. Tanner Crump was a standout for the Sting with a triple, run scored and an RBI.

12:00 PM - The West Pines Cobras topped the Phoenix Prime in an 8-0 run-rule win. Eric Vega pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits in 4 innings. Aidan Aguila, Jordan Perez and Julian Irizarry each had 2 RBI for the Cobras, who finished pool play with a 2-1 record, but came up just short of the playoffs. 

The Florida Sox edged out a 2-1 win over the Gulf Coast Waves to win Pool A behind a strong pitching effort from A. Alberro who pitched a complete game and allowed just 1 run. S. Gordon led the Sox offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. 

Semifinals - The Gulf Coast Waves got some revenge in a rematch with the Florida Sox and pulled off a 4-2 win to advance to the Championship Game. Kaden Lorenz pitched 5.2 innings and didn't allow an earned run for the Waves. The Florida Sox leadoff hitter, S. Gordon went 3-for-3 with a run scored, while A. Palomine was 2-for-3 as the Sox tallied 9 hits despite the loss. 

The Gulf Coast Monarchs defeated the Kangaroo Court Roos 8-2 to remain undefeated in the tournament and advance to the Championship Game. Maddix Simpson had 5 strikeouts in 5.1 innings to pick up the win, while Alex Kuenzle and Evan Taveras each had two hits for the Monarchs. Cooper Consiglio and Jordi Dominguez both had 2 hits for the Roos. 

Championship - The Gulf Coast Monarchs took home the Championship and finished the tournament a perfect 5-0 thanks to a dominant pitching effort from Jason Bello. Bello tossed 6 shutout innings and struck out 5, and added a double and 2 RBI at the plate. Fidel Alviar IV finished 2-for-3 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI to lead the Monarchs offensively. 

Fidel Alviar IV earned tournament MVP honors after finishing the weekend with a .385 average with 2 doubles and a tournament high 7 RBI.

Alex Kuenzle garnered MVPitcher after striking out every batter he faced across 4.1 innings pitched. The lefty was 1-0 and surrendered just 1 hit and allowed no runs on the weekend.
