Jankel Ortiz is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Rio Grande, PR who attends National Baseball Academy. Lean and athletic body with great physical projection. Ran a 7.13 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, has great twitch to his profile and actions; works light on his feet with strong hands as he works through the ball and gets rid of it quickly with big arm strength clocked up to 91 mph on throws across. Also pitches, has a clean delivery with a long and loose arm action as he generates great run and life to the fastball; mixes in a sharp slider as a swing-and-miss offering and was able to land a changeup for a solid third pitch. Right-handed hitter, sets up balanced with a hanging leg lift trigger; works on a good swing path with fluidity through contact, accuracy with the barrel and the ability to lift the ball to the pull side with great power projection. Named to 2020 Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
