2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Delaney is an "04" 2B/OF with some tools. At 5'9/170 he is very solid and looks strong. He runs very well, close to MLB average. He showed excellent arm strength across the infield. We wondered why he listed 2B instead of SS on his sheet. He throws better than most all of the high school shortstops out there. He has nice infield actions and lots of range. He has nice hands and good body control. It looks like he loves 2B and that is probably his future anyway. He knows what he's doing and he really competes. At the plate he's a very good contact line drive hitter. He stays under control and flashed some power potential. John was a nice surprise and a real nice player.
