Andrew Carraway is a 6'1", 185 lb. right hander from Marietta, GA, who was one of the better all around pitchers at the Academic Showcase. He has a nice pitcher’s build, with broad shoulders, long arms and a strong lower half. Carraway pitched four scoreless innings at the Showcase, striking out eight hitters, including five straight at one point. He has three solid pitches that he commands well and mixes effectively. Carraway’s fastball was 84-85 mph with good tailing action. His curveball was an 11 to 5 breaker at 68-70 with tight spin and late biting action, and his change up had very good sinking action at 73 mph. If anything, Carraway could probably use his change up even more. Overall, this is a good young pitching prospect who is going to make a very fine college pitcher. Andrew is an outstanding student.
