It's not often you get to talk about a catcher at the 13u level based on their defensive abilities, but Aaron Garcia (2028, Pico Rivera, Calif.) made sure you took notice of what he's capable of bringing behind the dish, utilizing a middle infield skill set and athleticism to make an impact. Later in the tournament, in a close game, we saw exactly what Garcia was capable of on a pitch that was spiked and spit off into the on deck circle on the first base side. Knowing there was a runner on second base and looking to advance to third, Garcia quickly sprung out of his crouch, located the ball and slid on the slick turf into a pop slide before delivering a strike to third base for truly one of the more impressive plays I've seen out of a 13u catcher. And if that wasn't enough the young the California native showed off very quick catch and throw skills to nail a would be theft of third
