Isaiah Coupet (Ohio State, 2023 Eligible)

The Buckeye left hander is a wiry 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame that features loads of funk and deception in his delivery. Coupet’s actions feature a high, extended leg kick before driving towards the hitter with a quick-twitch arm action shooting out of a three-quarter slot. Coupet worked an efficient 2 2/3 innings in relief for the Kettleers this day, preventing any runs from coming across while striking out two and surrendering just two baserunners (both coming on singles). Coupet worked a four-pitch mix during this outing, sporting a 90-91 mph fastball with good run to go along with a big curve at 74-76, sharp slider at 80-82 and sinking changeup at 84-86. His most impressive weapons were his high spin curveball with big vertical break and depth, paired with his smaller, firmer slider that showed tight movement along a horizontal plane. The lefty frequently used his plus feel for spin to get ahead with a breaker before attacking with his fastball, generating off-balance swings and weak contact throughout. With his combination of delivery, projectable frame, and pitch profiles, Coupet looks to be a very intriguing follow into the 2023 draft.
