Getting the ball out of the bullpen for Team Georgia 17u National was Porter Buursema (2023, Woodstock, Ga.) and he absolutely dominated for the last inning, collecting the save. The 6-foot, 185-pounder showcased a live arm with good feel for the fastball to both corners. The heater sat in the upper-80s, grabbing 90 mph multiple times throughout his one inning on the mound. He had two different breaking balls, the curveball showed 11-5 shape and tons of depth but he struggled to command that one well. The slider was the go-to put away pitch, showing sweeping action and tight break. He also showed that he could land the slider for strikes in early counts. Buursema bounced back nicely after a rough outing earlier in the tournament, striking out two and not allowing a hit on only 14 pitches. The Woodstock native has continued to develop into one of the best arms in the state.
