Peter Honse (2024, Youngsville, N.C.), a 6-foot-6, 217-pound right-handed pitcher, was barely able to get loose and acclimated to the mound in his first round start of the 2022 16U PG Summer Showdown against the Angels before a lightning and rain delay cut his outing short after just one inning. The Virginia Tech commit ran the fastball up to 86 mph from his high over-the-top release that creates a steep angle getting down the slope. He featured a breaking ball in the low-70s as a secondary offering without a chance to see its true potential in the short outing off a dirt mound with turf on the slab and only a small patch for a pitcher’s landing area down the slope. An interesting setup and one this scout had never seen before, but the young Honse battled through the short stint and finished with no hits and two strikeouts to emerge unscathed before being shut down due to the delay. The tall, slender right-hander has a projectable frame to add size and strength as he matures for more velocity which has been up to 89 mph in the past over longer outings.
