Corey Kling (2023, Delray Beach, Fla.) showed off a legit four-pitch mix in his two-inning outing for the CBU 2023 Scout Team. Kling struck out three batters and gave up one hit and a walk. The delivery was very simple and repeatable, and the release point was consistent throughout. The fastball sat consistently in the 89-92 mph range with a ride/run profile to go along with it. He complemented his heater with a slider, curveball, and changeup that all flashed at least average potential. The slider at 82 mph showed bat-missing depth and tunneled well with his fastball. The changeup was firm and showed late darting action at 82 mph. Kling had good feel for it, and he had the confidence to throw it to both righties and lefties. The curveball had depth and was used more as a get me over offering at 74-76 mph. Kling is showing signs of positive development with all his pitches and his velocity has climbed to a personal best 92 mph. The lanky 165-pound frame, four-pitch mix, and advancing development are desirable traits for many programs at the next level.
