Michael Murphy (2023, Mason, Ohio) put together an incredible outing to kick things off on Saturday on Alpha Baseball’s route to a championship. The uncommitted right-handed pitcher showcased an excellent pitch mix throughout the start. His fastball was located to both sides of the plate, and he was not afraid to get in glove side. The fastball was in the low- to mid-80s with some life to it. He paired what with an 11-5 breaking curveball that he was able to use to miss barrels. Murphy also flashed a slider that had more depth and sweep to it, which was also effective. To change eye levels, he also mixed in a changeup that had some arm-side fade. On Saturday, Murphy threw four shutout innings where he collected ten punchouts. Murphy also found ways to get it done at the dish, going 5-for-12 on the weekend at the plate.

Cameron Gilkerson (2023, Hilliard, Ohio) had some solid swings this weekend, flashing some physical strength and present pop from the left side. The Wright State commit sets up with his feet pretty wide, and then with a quick toe-tap, he shows a lot of bat speed. Gilkerson gets the bat through the zone very quickly. He covers the zone well and barreled the ball up a lot this weekend. While not all of them found the grass in the outfield, he had a couple of hard line drives that were hit directly at the outfielders. Gilkerson had a couple of doubles that he placed in the left-center gap and was able to move up runners or get a rally started.
