Hoilman is a right handed hitting 6-3 first baseman from Tennessee who is very strong for a 2007 prospect. He ran the 60 in 7.56 and threw 79 mph during infield drills. He also plays some third base and showed a nice glove there in game action and should continue working at that position. Hoilman has a sound balanced approach at the plate with a line drive swing plane and a short swing path that uses his strong hands well. Hoilman looks to drive the ball hard up the middle and to the opposite field and made consistent hard contact doing that, including three game hits. When he learns to turn on the ball and loft it occasionally, Hoilman will become a dangerous and well rounded hitter, because the physical ability is there. He’s a good athlete who should be followed closely for future development. Hoilman is also an outstanding student.

Danny Hoilman is a 2007 1B/P/3B from Science Hill HS in Johnson City, TN, with a 6'3", 210 lb. frame. He is a big and athletic player who moves well for his size. Defensively he has good actions with solid arm strength and good accuracy. He also moves well around the first base bag and showed the hands to handle balls in the dirt. At the plate the right handed hitter has a narrow stance with an inside out hitting style, especially during batting practice. Hoilman shows present raw power and will really blossom when he learns to drive the ball with regularity. The hands and skills are there to have plus game power, and he should be a middle of the order run producer at the next level. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with some effort. His fastball topped out at 83 mph with some life to his arm side. Hoilman goes after hitters with his fastball, but also mixes in a slow curveball at 65 mph. He has projectable velocity on the mound, but we really think he has a very good future at the plate. Hoilman is a must follow, and is an outstanding student.
