Derrik Gibson is a 2008 SS with a 6'1'', 170 lb. frame from Seaford, DE who attends Seaford Senior HS. He has a lean athletic frame with some strength projection. Simply put, Gibson was as good on defense as anyone at the National Showcase. He had lots of opportunities in the field at both second and shortstop and made all the plays with skill and ability. He showed especially good range and not only got to balls but turned them into outs. His feet work very well and always seemed to be on balance and able to make strong, accurate throws. Offensively, Gibson has very sound swing fundamentals frome a balanced, crouched stance and was a line drive machine with some gap to gap power potential. He stayed behind and inside the ball very well and drove it frequently to right-center field. He has strength and quickness in his hands. Gibson may not have the plus tools to attract the scouts out of high school but he projects as a top level college infielder who could be top draft out of college should everything work out for him.

Derrik Gibson is a 2008 MIF from Seaford Senior HS, residing in Seaford, Delaware, with a 6'1"/170 pound frame. Derrik has a balanced approach at the plate with very good bat speed. He stays on the ball well and has good power. Gibson has very quick hands and good power potential. He is smooth and athletic defensively with very good range. Derrik has natural ability at shortstop and a very strong arm at 88 mph. Gibson pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a fluid delivery. He has a live arm and very good arm speed. Derrik has an 87 mph fastball with live to go with a late breaking 12-6 curveball at 67 mph and mixes in a 72 mph changeup. Derrik is a good student and a national level prospect.
