Del Valle is a 5-11 junior infield from Miami with good athletic actions and some wiry strength. He ran the 60 in 7.23 and showed 78 mph arm strength in infield drills. Del Valle’s actions on defense in games were smooth and easy and he had quick transfers. He showed some bat speed and strength at the plate and drove one nice double up the left centerfield gap. Del Valle hits from a wide stance with a line drive swing plane. Del Valle also pitched three innings in relief. He throws from a low ¾’s release point with a quick, whippy arm action that creates nice running and sinking life on both his fastball and change up. Del Valle’s fastball was 78-80 mph and his change 62-64. He also threw a couple of 65 mph curveballs. Del Valle is an excellent student in the classroom, too.
