2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Thomas Wiener is a 2007 RHP/OF that attends Hendrick Hudson HS and resides in Montrose, NY with a 6'3", 195 lb. frame. Thomas has a tall athletic build and had one of the best builds of any prospect at the showcase. On the mound Thomas shows a short arm circle with a very heavy fastball and some nice run on his fastball. Thomas has solid command but could get more extention out front in his delivery. He is a high effort pitcher that needs to work on refining his off-speed pitches. At the plate Thomas showed good raw tools and just needs to make some adjustments in his approach. He shows very good bat speed and just need to shorten and simplify his swing. In the field Thomas struggled some in the outfield and would project best as a first baseman. Thomas is a player that should attract the attention of many smaller colleges.
