Torre Swanson is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'0'', 155 lb. frame from Redding CA, who attends Foothill HS. Selected as a Top Prospect in this event. He has a lanky, loose body and will continue to fill out. Swanson is not a tall RHP and normally the word projection does not really apply to a 6'0" RHP, but he does project some. His arm is live, very loose and quite fast, not to mention that his wrist is also quite loose. He is aggressive with his arm and his pitches have a lot of life. As he gets stronger, if he maintains the fluidity of his arm, wrist, and shoulder, he should reach 90+ very soon. We saw him touch 89 in August of '06. Swanson's fastball has life down in the zone and good arm side action. He did not throw any breaking balls in his outing but did show above average feel for the change-up, thrown with excellent hand speed. Swanson is a top level student and exciting pitching prospect that D1 programs likely will be falling over themselves to sign, as he is the type of prospect that likely ends up on campus and he is also a potential academic scholarship candidate.
