2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Jacob Kight is a 2007 C/RHP that attends Nitro HS and resides in Nitro, WV with a 6'0", 215 lb. frame. Jacob is a strong kid that showed very good raw arm strength. At the plate Jacob shows good bat speed and the ability to turn on the ball well. Jacob has good power potential at the plate, but needs to make some adjustments in his approach to see his potential maximized. Behind the plate Jacob showed very good arm strength (78), but really needs to work on shortening up his release. His pop times (2.22) have the ability to be much lower. Jacob probably showed his highest potential on the mound. He has a long loose arm action and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with good run and sink on his fastball. Jacob has good arm speed and command but overall is fairly raw on the mound. He has the potential to be a solid mid-level college player in time.
