Corey Williams is a 2008 LHP with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Huntsville, AL who attends Madison Academy. He has a well proportioned athletic build with good strength and the promise of more to come. Williams throws from a high energy delivery with a short stride and tall release point. His arm is quick and he gets very good extension out in front at release. Williams fastball is consistently in the upper 80's and touched 91 mph. It's a live fastball that will ride up in the zone over hitter's hands but sink and run down low. Williams 77 mph slider can be nasty at times with late, sharp break and he had lots of swing and misses on this pitch. His change up was consistently down in the strike zone with good arm speed. Williams is an athletic pitcher, held runners well and fielded his position. His overall stuff has come on nicely over the past year and there could still be more there. He has the arm strength and stuff to be a top level southpaw. Williams is a good student.

Corey Williams is a 2008 LHP/1B/OF from Madison Academy in Huntsville, AL, with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. He is a lean, young lefty with an athletic build. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a slow and deliberate delivery. His arm works well with good arm speed, and he has very good pitchability. Williams mixes in three pitches with good control, and he keeps hitters off balance. His live fastball topped out at 85 mph with arm side life, but his best pitch is a 2 to 8 curveball with late, hard bite at 71 mph. It is a nasty pitch at times, and he will throw it in any count. To round out his arsenal he throws a 68 mph with good touch and feel. Williams is a high level pitching prospect in the 2008 class. Defensively he has good fielding actions at 1B, and showed his easy arm action across the diamond. He is a left handed hitter with raw bat speed and good extension. There is strength in his swing and he has projectable power, but he is more of a contact guy trying to drive the gaps. Williams is a good two-way prospect, and is a good student as well.

Corey Williams is a promising '08 LHP from Huntsville, Alabama with a very projectable body and arm. He likely was the most promising player at the showcase and has advanced skills for his age. His arm is loose and lively from a 3/4 slot. He shows solid mechanics outside of becoming heel heavy occasionally at balance. He works methodically with a normal tempo and shows normal effort. He uses a tall & fall pitching style with a nice linear finish. He flashes surprising poise and confidence on the mound for his age and has a good idea how to pitch. His FB is 78-81mph with nice arm side tail action. He throw a CTR at 76-78mph that shows nice bite. His CB is 66-67mph with 2-8 break, tight rotation, good depth, good sharpness, and good deception. His CH topped out at 64-65mph with decent sink to glove side. Corey has a huge upside and is very projectable. Major follow with draft potential.
