Alejandro Jimenez is an extra big and strong 2005 catcher from Puerto Rico. Despite his size, Jimenez showed some good quickness and athletic ability behind the plate, along with good arm strength and a 1.96 pop time. Of course, with any young man this size, hitting ability is going to be his ticket and Jimenez showed that he could hit. He didn’t take batting practice, but did very well in games, going 4-6 while making consistent solid contact. Jimenez has an aggressive, pull type approach with a heavy top hand and generates good bat speed. He can play at a high level.

Alejandro is a '05 C/1B from Bayamon, Puerto Rico with a 6-3/230 lb. large frame and strong, wide build. He has broad shoulders with a thick, strong lower half. At the plate he has a slightly open, wide stance with a small stride. He shows that he likes balls up in the zone with the ability to drive into the power alleys. He has a strong, aggressive approach and loves to hit early in the count. He has the ability to use all fields and he has good bat control to drive the ball to both alleys. He should put up some impressive HS numbers. Behind the plate he moves laterally very well and shows sure hands to handle a quality pitching staff. His arm is quick and crisp at 73mph to second with a 2.01 pop time. He is a strong hitter with good defensive skills. Alejandro is a "look you in the eye" type kid who doesn't shy away from advice. He is athletic, but we'd like to see him trim up just a bit and let his talent really surface.
